StreetSmart Shanghai by VanDam — Laminated pocket size City Street Map to Shanghai, China complete with all attractions, sights, museums, hotels and shopping

Do not buy this map. It is woefully out of date, so much so that it is worthless. Entire subway lines have been built since it was published.

Bought 2 of these for my friends when traveled to Shanghai as we get really messy during travels. On a number of trips, our old maps were torn and distorted. These laminated ones were good fit for their elderly eye sights as this map has big colorful icons, easy to read for their eyes. Best of all, when they spilled their drinks over the maps, keep the maps dry as laminated. My friends were so happy with this map. Unbelievable what small and useful things can do for people.

This map is a bit out of date, but otherwise an OK map. But Shanghai has changed a lot in the last few years and this map just doesn't show certain train lines and areas as it is a few years old.

This tri-lingual map -- characters, pinyin and English -- is incredibly helpful for any serious traveller to Shanghai. I have used it already and am purchasing again for a gift for a friend. Easy to read, frames the visitor's city well. Because of the characters identifying locations you can hand it to a taxi driver to read the characters of your destination.

When I lived in China 30 years ago, maps were not only scarce, but hid many sensisitive locations. These VanDam maps of Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong are thorough, very useable and all in Mandarin characters, pinyin romanization, and English -- a godsend in that god less country.

Super excited to head to China this winter. Had to make sure I have one of these maps. VanDam is the only map I trust when I'm off globe-trotting. They are such a perfect travel campanion.
