I bought two of these to keep my horse's water ice free this past winter. They performed perfectly and did not cause a leak in the trough. I would purchase these again if I needed additional deicers. Easy to install and great funtionality.

This heater is working well in my stock tank. It was easy to install, having no issues.

Test asap on arrival. We ordered two of these. 2nd one was the backup. Installed first one in tank on a warmer day. Once it got cold we noticed that the unit was not kicking in and the tank was freezing. Pre tested the second one and it worked fine. Seller was quick and easy with the return and replacement. Tested replacement on arrival and it works fine. The trick is to make sure you activate the internal thermostat by placing the unit in your freezer for 10 minutes or so before testing it. Otherwise it could be working fine but won't actually turn on because of the internal temp. I will now always test these in this way as soon as they arrive to make sure they are good before too much time passes and i cannot return them.

Keeps water from freezing

I’ve always used these. Just a word of advice. These are the ones you want for the Rubbermaid tubs!! Now apparently they make two kinds. The universal ones do not work in the Rubbermaid tubs. Be sure to read the product and get the correct one before you buy. But these work great!!!
