I've found that you only need around 10 mls of the liquid to find relief within 5 -10 mins at most. Despite the exorbitant cost of this item, I will keep purchasing it as it works so well. I only have the aniseed flavour but I do have to hunt for this as mint seems to be the most popular flavour which I can find everywhere. This does have a thick consistency not runny at all. I find 1 dose can last 8 hours at least.
