Great razor!!
This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have had this razor for about three weeks now and shave with it every day. I found out several years ago that three or more blades is too many to deal with, as they would cause razor burn and irritation. However, using a traditional double edged razor wasn't giving me the close shave I wanted either. The Gillette Sensor seemed to be my best bet, but the cartridges are a bit pricey and the pivot-head really didn't do much for me, so I stuck with my Edwin Jagger DE. However, I had issues with optimal blade angle and safety. (I cut a chunk out of my thumb trying to untwist the blade head on my previous razor, because it was stuck.) Knowing that I had previously had success with twin blade razors, I decided to look on Amazon and see if there was a Trac II razor. This one has the perfect heft and ergonomic design, and the cartridges are easy to change. Some reviews have said that the handle is slippery. However, I dry my hands thoroughly after lathering my face, and I have had no issues with that. It feels perfect to me. I did have some redness for a few days as I adjusted to the twin blades, after using a single blade razor for a long time. However, I did get used to it, and now I just get a close shave every day, with no nicks or irritation, and it looks great. Thank you, Amazon.

Balance at Your Fingertips; Smooth as a Baby's Bottom
OK so it's taken me a while to review this. Kinda fits with my attitude that often the best things are not brand spanking new. I've been using a twin blade for more years than the number of hairs in a three-day beard stubble. Why waste money on the zillion blades per cartridge when two work just as well, if not better? After my original blade handle finally fell apart I went big time and bought this solid, heavy handle. Ooo the balance. The weight. If you've ever used a quality hammer, or a quality cutting knife you know what I mean. I buy my twin blade cartridges direct from the manufacturer. They fit nice and tight with this handle. They say a good carpenter never blames his tools for a bad job. On the other hand, a quality tool makes the job almost effortless and the results superb. This is a quality handle. You will not be disappointed. Just remember to buy your blades from the manufacturer. I use Persona. At thirty cents a pop you won't be wasting your money on the zillion blade cartridges from the brand-name manufacturers that overcharge way too much.

Poor design or just marketing a bad product?
Advertised as a direct replacement for Gillette Trak II razors and blades. But it will not retrieve the blades from the plastic blade holder as the Gillette does...of course I assumed it would do that when I bought it. The only way to get the blade onto this razor is to manually (by hand) somehow get a blade out of the plastic blade holder, THEN you have to slide it onto the razor. The other problem (I should have known) is that the heavy duty razor is all slick...it's chrome, so when it gets wet it slides around in your hand. Those little rubber rings at the bottom are no help since we don't hold a razor at the bottom, but closer up to the head of the razor. Over all, it's not worth even trying to use this poorly designed razor. Was mine just one bad apple out of the manufacturing plant? I don't know, but I won't buy another. Thanks to Amazon for the refund.

Nice Razor handle
I have been looking for a handle to not replace the old but so I could have one in two locations. I community from one end of the stat to the other so I prefer not to carry all these stuff every two weeks but leave a set in both locations. This handle for the price is an amazing value, good weight, balance slightly off but I adjusted quickly, some minor groves in the smooth surface or pebbling would allow for better grip when hands are soapy or have residue cream on them. On the other hand I like the smooth finish polished look they way my face should be when I am complete with the shaving process smooth and clean. I love the look and I love the weight of the handle and they were nice enough to include enough free blades to make it usable out of the box. Nice handle, worth the purchase price, last a life time.

Very nice handing!
First of all, I am very late in writing this review as I purchased this razor 4/22/13 and it is now 5/31/13! I tried the razor with shave gel and was very pleased with it. I wanted to use up my two bladed Senser system first, hence the tradiness on writing this review. Well I am back to using my new razor. I don't know but I think the Personna blades are a bit better than the Sensor blades. I am using standard shave (aeresol) shave creame. I don't like it as much as the dove gel for sensitive skin I just bought. TWO POINTS: 1. The weight and handing of this razor is superb! 2. The high price of $26.00 is a bit much to swallow, but holding the razor and shaving with it make it worth it to me! 3. Even though my previous razor was also two bladed, I really prefer the slide in refill as opposed to Gillettes "claw" like mechanism. I have had to stick the Gillette product in boiling water to clear out the more technical mechanism of caked in soap in the crevesses of the razor. The only disadvantage is the fact that the razor does not include a decent restting place or stand. So I either have to make a Rube Goldberg stand or purchase a stand !

Very nice quality handle
Bought one few months ago. Didn't initially like it because it felt too heavy and slippery. Was very used to the small plastic thing for years. But I decided to give it a chance. I had to adapt to the new features. Importantly, because it is heavy I reverted to a gentle, gliding motion over my face with less pressure. I also had to learn how to hold it right: the handle is slick and heavy at the base (the end away from the blade). Eventually things came together and now I love it. I think the bad reviews mentioning the weight and slickness maybe just didn't consider this handle requires a little retraining period. Has two drain holes on blade holder base but still needs a little help with either a paper clip or remove the blade for thorough cleaning of shavings. Overall a very nice old fashion style handle that should last forever.

A decent replacement
After fifteen or so years, my Gillette razor began splitting in half. I purchased this as the reviews were decent and I do not like newer 5-10 bladed razors. I just don't get them. On the plus side, this razor looks nice and is a solid weight. It accepts the blades I like-Atra (or Wilkinson double) blades. Two things I have noticed, as you can see, the handle is smooth. You have to rinse shaving cream from one hand to hold it as there are no notches, pattern or way to grip it otherwise. Very slippery in the shower. Also, the head does not pivot as my old one did, so there is an adjustment to get as close a shave as with the older handle. Overall, it is a decent replacement, but not "quite as good". But I imagine this is as good as it will get for a dual bladed razor...

Taconic twin blade cartridge razon
I have used a trac 2 razor for 55 years, and have had trouble finding trac2 blades the last couple of years. I saw this razor, and decided to try it out, and I am very glad I did. I have shaved with this razor with the same blade for 6 times now, and the blades are still very sharp with an excellent shave. The other razor was only lasting two, maybe three shaves, then change the blade. Trac 2 blades are redicuously expensive, and they seem to have changed their metal composition in their blades as they use to last longer, but now are crap. This razor is well made, and the company has a new customer for as long as I remain vertical. Thank you for making a QUALITY product, with value for the price.

Solid and good quality. Bonus that it includes blades.
Excellent! Solid weight and good handle shape.

Very good shave
Blades were great, and gave multiple usage. Shaver felt great and solid. It does get slippery if water drips on handle, so needs towel drying once or twice during shave, but not a biggie.

Good weight
Pleased with this product. Sits well to the face and gives a good shave. Like others, more than two blades is a waste and a bit of a faff.
