Polk Audio Monitor XT20 High-Resolution Bookshelf Loudspeakers, Hi-Res Certified Performance, Dolby Atmos Certified & DTS:X Compatible, Black

These Polk XT20 Speakers were purchased to replace a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 12.0s, which, while excellent, were found to be quite fatiguing over extended listening periods. The Polks also had a superior frequency response range, 38hz - 40,000hz vs 70hz - 20,000hz, for the Wharfedales, which should, on paper at least, give a much more pronounced bass response. In terms of build quality, the Polks were very well-finished (the fine-textured overall black cabinet finishing, a pleasing and modern looking alternative to the common 'black ash' vinyl wraps which adorn so many entry-level bookshelf speakers). The Polks did not have as solid a cabinet as the Wharfedales (an indication of thicker MDF construction and superior internal bracing). The Polks binding posts are also not as high quality as the Wharfedale's, which also boasts twin sets of terminals on each speaker for 'bi-amping'. In terms of performance, however, the Polks were exceptional for what is a budget price. Clear and crisp high treble without being overly bright (with only a slight trace of high-end roll-off) and punchy, tight bass at medium to high volumes with no obvious signs of audible distortion. As with most speakers in this price range, lower volumes did lack a little definition. Only the mid-range performance was slightly subdued, in what was an overall fine attempt at creating a convincing soundstage. Being Rear-Ported, correct placement is also essential to contributing to a balanced soundstage. When tested with a Cambridge Audio Axa35 Amplifier (8 ohm) and Axc25 CD Player, the speakers were easier to drive than their 87db sensitivity suggested, and would undoubtedly be more so with a more powerful integrated amplifier than the Cambridge. The Polks also responded extremely well to EQ, and are actually, by default, quite neutral, so can be 'tuned' quite effectively through Tone Control. For this reviewer, the bass response - while excellent for a budget bookshelf speaker - is certainly not as powerful as other reviews seem to suggest, and a subwoofer would certainly enhance lower frequency response. However, most pleasing of all, is the XT20s ability to provide consistent non-fatiguing listening for extended periods. This was evident through a diverse range of different genres from electronic EDM to Hard Rock, and is, perhaps, the speaker's greatest attribute in an entry-level speaker marketplace where listening fatigue is often cited as the reason why individuals upgrade to the next mid-price level. Overall, an aesthetically pleasing, well-made budget speaker with surprising acoustic performance and sonic dynamics throughout. For the extremely competitive price of £189, you can't really go wrong.

Sound amazing for budget speakers, the tweeter has a 3d holographic effect and the bass driver goes much lower than competitors at this price, 38hz. Just sound fab. Much better than the pair of Wharfedale 11.2 they replaced.

I Purchased and tested the Audio Bronze 100, Elac Debut 5.2, Jamo 803 and the Polk Xt 20's As it happens I ended up keeping the Jamo's, but only due to the fact they suited the room design better, the Polks where simply superb, neither the Polk, Jamo, or Audio Bronze needed a sub for normal listening, TV speakers or PC with Amazon HD music, The Polks price is staggeringly good value for money

Got be best bookshelf speakers I've heard yet the build quality brilliant I would recommend speakers to anyone who's got low budget, You will be surprised how good polk XT20 are.

1st of all I'm a very hard customer to please, but I'll always give honest feedback These speakers sound amazing, especially when you pump up the bass and treble, so they need some tweaking out of the box. This isn't a negative thing because it means the speakers are balanced. But I do have negative points, the banana plugs on mine are loose on both speakers but more on the right side one, the right side one also has a mark at the bottom of the speaker, let's just say I haven't sent them back and me and the site came to an agreement which I'm very happy with. Overall they do what I need, work as audio monitors and allow me to hear the changes in the sound using my equipment.

Great speakers, well built at a reasonable price and even better when on sale. Treble and bass are well maintained even at high volume. Surprisingly there is a lot of bass from these speakers even on the lower end Hz range, and can compliment any AVR with or without a subwoofer. Highly recommend this speakers either as a 2.0 set-up or as front or rear surrounds in a 5.1+ set-up.

Las estrené con un Fosi BT30D Pro junto con un sub Polk PSW10 y un DAC genérico desde mi Bravia y el sonido fue espectacular de inmediato, ¡cero rodaje! Sonido brillante pero con los bajos muy notables, MUY, incluso apagué el sub y ¡prácticamente no hacía falta! La prueba es la del video. Después conecté mi torna que tiene preamp integrado y hubo algo de incompatibilidad que nunca descifré, parecía que algo entraba en corto... no quise arriesgar así que no lo intenté más. Finalmente recibí mi AVR Onkyo de servicio y al conectar la Bravia con un DAC SMSL PS200 y un sub pasivo Onkyo de 5"... ¡wow! Una definición exquisita en todas la frecuencias, tan cálido como un setup analógico de alta gama sin perder esa brillantez que caracteriza al audio digital. Al conectar la torna con su preamp (estoy por comprar un externo para mejorar el sistema)... ¡uffff! Una calidez espectacular pero sin perder ni distorsionar los altos, los twitters son una chulada. Sin duda el Fosi tiene un desempeño muy distinto en los bajos, por lo que el Onkyo pasivo puede quedar corto, más por su tamaño, en este sistema según el género musical o películas, así que pronto regresaré el activo a la sala (me falta espacio, ahora tengo que subir las Polk a la pared para tener lugar para el SMSL y el preamp que vendrá y entonces conectar el sub activo con el largo de cables suficiente para ello). En resumen, son un gran, GRAN, equipo. Eso sí, yo pagué el MSRP y no pagaría más que eso ya que a los precios que las he visto anunciadas, sin duda comprarían algo de gama más alta en pasivas o incluso de buena gama en activas, según lo que necesiten.

デスクトップ環境のスピーカーをMXT20に買い替えました。オーディオメインの用途ではないレビューになります。 最近アクティブスピーカー市場で流行りの傾向である｢モニターサウンド｣という言葉をよく目にするため、このシリーズもMonitor XTという名前からしてモニターライクな音を連想させますが、これは｢手頃な価格で良い音を｣というPOLKの伝統的なMonitorシリーズという意味の名称になっています。 当製品をモニタースピーカーと呼称してレビューしておられる方もいましたので注意が必要です。 MXT20は音の解像度はそこまで高くなく、柔らかな温かい音です。 高域が前に出てくる鋭さがなく良い意味で音がバラけるので、このサイズのスピーカーを近距離で鳴らしても自分の周りが音に包まれているような感覚になり心地良さを感じます。聞き疲れもしません。 シアター構成のサラウンドでMXT15を採用しているため、両者を聞き比べましたが小音量でもMXT15よりMXT20の方が良い音が出ます。 MXT20に決めるにあたり、このサイズが許す環境なら上位のReserve R100も検討しましたが、 上位モデルたちは精密で明瞭ですが、価格なりの本領を発揮するにはある程度の距離をとった方が扱いやすいです。 対してMXT20は音が広がりやすい傾向があり、このサイズでありながらPCデスク用途という超ニアフィールドの使用にも向くという上位シリーズにはない利点があります。 これがMonitor XTが入門用という立ち位置のおかげで、距離にとらわれない設置のしやすさにも繋がっているように感じます。 デスク上でのニアフィールド対策として、写真の通りスタンドで底上げし本体を上下反転しています。この設置が不安なくできる筐体なのも嬉しい点です。 何を鳴らしてもある程度の良い音ですが、やはり音楽をじっくり聴きたい時は写真の端にかすかに映っているNS-F500を使うほどには差は感じます。完全3wayのフロア型と比べるのは酷ですが。 R100と比べてもほぼ全ての音楽ジャンルで上を行かれますが、メタルやロック、EDMはMXT20の方が合っていました。 私の用途は上記の曲調と似た傾向になる動画やゲーム、youtubeなどのPCの日常使いがメインで、作業用にジャズを流すのでMXT20の前に出てくる明るい特性がマッチしています。 日常使いのアンプはZA3を使用します。このアンプのクリアな特性にR100などのピュアオーディオスピーカーを組み合わせてPCで質の悪い圧縮音源をメインにした場合、解像度の長所が逆に音の悪さを暴いてしまう聴き辛さになる懸念もありました。 オーディオ用途が多いパッシブスピーカーをPC使用目的にした場合、MXT20の””音の緩さ””はたぶん正解で、しかもこのサイズのスピーカーをデスクで鳴らせる事でPCで遊ぶ時間がリッチになり、音は大事だと再認識しました。 なら高度なDSP補正のあるアクティブスピーカーでいいのでは？とも思います。確かに中高域の明瞭さは負けるかもしれません。しかしほとんどのアクティブスピーカーはサブウーファーを追加して完成するシステムで、私はサブウーファーが苦手で気が付くと使わなくなっていました。 日常使いでサブの低周波はかすかでも疲れる、でも気持ちの良い低域は欲しい人にもMXT20はいいかもしれません。 MXT20は非常に評価が高いですが、価格的にも高望みは厳禁です。しかし価格も性能であり、なおかつこの音なら全てを黙らせる納得感はあります。長く付き合っていけるスピーカーだと感じました。

Fantastic Monitoring speakers at a fair price. I am very surprised by the high definition / resolution sound these speakers deliver. Highs, mids and bass are exellenty balanced (thousand times better than any Presonus or M-Audio I have owned) and therefore extremely well suited for pro music production. These speakers are really heavy and checks all the boxes for flawless superior quality. I am very happy with this purchase and can whole heartedly recommend these speakers to music producers and audiophiles alike. If you are serious about high quality pro sound monitoring speakers then this is absolutely a must have for you.

Fantastiche, dopo anni di ricerhe e prove ho trovato i diffusori che aspettavo, prezzo prestazioni ineguagliabili, ben costruiti ottimi materiali, bellissimi i woofers ed altrettanto i tweeters, solidissimo e ben rifinito il cabinet, connettori ribusti ed in fine il suono, equilibrato i bassi ben prifondi non gonfiati gli alti ed i medi mai fastidiosi e ben dettagliati regalano un suono naturale e mai affaticante potrei stare intere giornate a riscoltare tutti i brani per risentirli come mai li havevo ascoltati con una nuova aria di freschezza Stramega consigliatissimi
