I have a butane bottle. Will the barbecue work with this or can it only work with propane?

I believe that it will work perfectly well with butane, but you might have to change the fitting as i think that the propane fitting on the BBQ will not match the butane fitting on the bottle. Regards

Is the space high enough with the lid close to cook a beer can chicken?

If you tell me what a beer can chicken is and how big they are I might be able to answer. But an ordinary supermarket chicken would fit

Will this work with Coleman C500 cartiges?

Nope, First those C500 Coleman cartridges contain a mixed gas composed of propane and butane. whereas this BBQ is for propane. Second, those cartridges are made with a special thread to attach directly to certain Coleman lanterns and stoves usually without a hose. For this BBQ you connect the hose to your propane tank. it includes the regulator but you may need a fitting on the end of the hose to match your tank. good luck it is a nice BBQ ..seemed well built not flimsy and they sell it with a matching cover which is nice
