I ordered this Sata Controller cause i was combining certain parts from 2 computers into 1 case. I installed this sata card because i have 6 SSD drives and 2 HDD drives. I first installed it on my older FX-8350 8 core computer and It work flawlessly booted the computer up and it was recognized right away. Then i had to replace my MB and processor and memory and I installed it into the new computer and it worked right off the bat. This is a great little sata card for anyone that wants to add more drives to their computer.

I purchased this to run 6 disks in a RAID 6 soft-raid configuration. It works just fine. When booting, it only shows 4 of the disks. But when Linux finishes booting, all ports are available. I do not know what the throughput is... but it is not slow. The server works just fine. (It is faster than the gigabit network speed... if that helps.)

Stable performance but room for improvement This PCIe SATA controller card does what it promises: it adds multiple SATA ports for system expansion without much fuss. Installation was straightforward—the included cables and power splitter were a nice touch, and the low-profile bracket made it compatible with a smaller case. Once connected, all drives were recognized properly, and transfer speeds were consistent with expectations for a PCIe x1 card. That said, there are tradeoffs. Being a PCIe x1 Gen3 card, it has bandwidth limitations when multiple drives are active at once, so you won’t get full speed on all ports simultaneously. The bundled SATA cables feel a bit thin compared to higher-end ones I’ve used, and the card itself runs warm under heavy load—something to keep in mind for systems with poor airflow. Also, while the setup is generally plug-and-play, I noticed that some drives required a second reboot before they were properly detected, which might frustrate less tech-savvy users. Bottom line: A solid and cost-effective way to add extra SATA ports, but not ideal for maximum throughput or heavy enterprise use. Best suited for home servers, backups, or media storage expansion.

I needed to add more disk space in my media server. Ordered a card from a different company, only 3 of the ports worked so back it went. Ordered this one to give it a try. The shipping was fast, the packaging was good. It came with sata cables, power adapter to add 4 more sata power plugs( should come with 2). and driver disk(not needed) Swapped my 4 port card out, put this one in and buttoned it up. Put the server back in place and brought it up. Unraid saw all of the new drives and is working flawlessly. I would highly recommend this card to anyone that needs to expand your sata drive space.

Drops in and worked right out of the box on my Windows 11 machine, did not need the disc for driver install. Extra sata cables were nice to have as well. Especially helpful for my DVD burner and mechanical hard drives when short on sata ports on the motherboard.

I was concerned that it might not have the IT Mode software. After so investigation I was able to confirm the software version was correct and my build worked without issues.

My FreeNas Server is getting an expansion plus an upgrade. Currently it has a 5X3TB Pool. I'm adding a 5X6TB Pool. All the drives are WD Reds.The originals have been running since 2019 when I began running FreeNas 11.2. I'm using an ASUS Prime X470 Pro MB w/64 gb ram and an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Processor. I've upgraded to TrueNas 13.6. I needed more SATA Ports. I bought this expansion card on October 2024. It worked fine until about this January 4. At that point the server needed to be restarted every two or three days. Finally I lost video. I replaced the video card. I reseated all the memory, checked the cables, the 24" LG monitor, Reinstalled the OS on a different HD. Finally I removed the SATA expansion card. Problem solved. The folks at TrueNas say their OS recognizes SATA expansion cards. So I'm going to try a different card.

La scheda è di buona fattura ed imballata bene, in confezione troviamo 8 cavi sata e un cavo di alimentazione. Ho comprato questo prodotto per espandere il numero di dischi all’interno del mio nas e devo dire che per questo utilizzo è perfetto, appena montato viene riconosciuto subito e non ho avuto nessun tipo di rallentamento, non ho notato nessuna differenza di velocità rispetto alle porte della motherboard, nemmeno con tutte e 8 le porte collegate. Se non si necessita di velocità di trasferimento altissime(SSD) è il prodotto giusto, anche per uso da ufficio.

使用用途にもよるが、私の場合スイッチ式にしてホットスワップ用にしているためHDDに1台もつないで無い状態の時もあり、同タイプのSATA拡張カードで安価な物が多くありますがその多くがコントローラー無記載かmarvellの製品であり値段は高くなりますがASMediaと記載してくれているのは助かります。 marvellだと1台でも繋いでいれば問題ないのですが、SATAに繋いでなくPCIに刺したままにすると「ディスク0 不明」なデバイスが表示され気持ち悪い状態になります。HDDかSSDいずれかを通常接続するなら問題ないですが、光学ドライブを接続してもこの表示は消えません。 その点ASMediaはmarvellよりも後発でしたが、AHCIに最初から対応していてマザーボードなどにも多く使われているので信頼性があり、上記の現象が起きないので非常に安心して使用できます。 ・・・でも同じ8ポートで最安の物と比較して約2倍近い値段がするのでやっぱり高い 追記：マザボ故障、X870待ってたので時間が経ちNVMeSSDが新規に2枚購入したが片方ファーム問題で最新ビルド対応してなく、もう片方はOSを入れてコンセント抜いて完全放電すると読み込めなくなるなどトラブルが連続してようやく組み立てて立ち上げたら、ホットスワップが出来なかった。商品ページには 「ポートマルチプライヤスイッチまたはコマンドスイッチに基づくFISをサポートします。 ホットホットスワップをサポートします。 」 とあったのでOS標準では出来ないのかとドライバを探して稼働させても立ち上げた時に接続してないと反応しない。以前の物に取り替えたらそっちは問題なくホットスワップできる。 AMDが相性悪い可能性もあったのでIntelで試したが結果は変わらなかった。そもそもこの製品ではハードウェアの取り外しのアイコンが出てないので何かが足りないのではく、最初からその機能が無いのだと判断した。 本来なら商品説明にホットスワップ対応と書いて対応してないので返品案件なのだが、トラブルが立て続けにあり時間が経ちすぎたのでこのまま泣き寝入りすることになったのが非常に残念だった。
