Westinghouse Lighting 81807 Corp 12-Inch Deep Diffuser

This is a basic glass shade (diffuser) replacement for a standard old-fashioned ceiling light, the kind that has a threaded tube extending down from the center. ONLY the shade (diffuser) is included in the box, no hardware. The current Amazon add-on price is probably half of what it would cost at a large home-improvement store. If you have the fixture and threaded tube in place from a previous shade that was broken, this is an inexpensive and pleasant replacement. If you don't have the end-cap that holds it in place, and/or the nuts that go on the threaded tube, you can buy replacements at the home-improvement or hardware store for perhaps $1-2; it is all standard sizing that has been in use for more than 100 years.Assuming your fixture has the tube sticking down (an inch protrusion is enough for this shade) you simply slip the shade onto the tube and hold it in place with the cap that does NOT come with this shade. If you want to use more care, some installations include felt washers to protect the glass a bit more, and/or brass-colored washers, but neither is critical to installation.Because this is a relatively flat shade, it can be used with fixtures that have one or two bulbs; the shade does not touch the ceiling, so there is no restriction on what type of fixture to which it can be attached. If you need it further from the ceiling, you buy a longer threaded tube for the center of your fixture.It is mildly pretty and of course a bit old-fashioned, but very functional and will work in all those hundreds-of-millions of ceiling lights that were installed with a central threaded tube designed to hold a shade in place.The picture I'm showing includes the white end-cap that I purchased separately, and hopefully reveals more detail about the shade's design than the catalog page which seems to show just white.

Filters too much light.

I had looked in every hardware in town, and, not expecting to find it, took one last chance and looked on Amazon. They had it! (I should have known) I needed to replace one of these that had been broken in a house I was putting on the market. It was a good price, fit perfectly, and looks great--better than the original!

Didn’t come with everything needed to install.

It was broken when I got it, so I have to return it.

I purchased this for an old RV we're renovating. It looks great in the living room.

It's less than a dollar to put up the attachment that holds it on so well worth the savings on this.

I looked all over my city for a diffuser but couldn't find one at a reasonable price. Since I am a property manager, I needed this for one of the properties I manage and it fit perfectly.
