Vintage Ports are among the rarest and longest-lived wines produced anywhere. Port with a vintage (year) declaration must be made with grapes of that year's harvest. Not every year is declared a vintage year (much similar to Champagne). This one is produced by Quinta da Romaneira, who had a long rich history in Porto. It was founded in 1813 belonging to the families of Sousa Guimares. This is a great opportunity to taste vintage Port that has been carefully cellar-ed and aged. Port is generally made from these top five black varieties, although over 80 varieties are allowed: Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franc, Tinta Cao, and Tinta Barroca.
