can this be used outdoors on a playground? (Left outside all the time)

Hi Robert - The tubes of the Chimalong are held in play with foam. If you left this outside all the time, I think the foam would deteriorate. Of course, you can always go to chimes.com to buy new foam pieces to replace the worn out ones. Hope this helps!

Can it be mounted on a wall?

It is possible...The metal chimes are held together by spongy gray material. The metal tubes scan slide out of the gray spongy material. If you put nail/hooks on the wall, the item could rest on the nail or hook if it stuck out far enough...hope this helps :)

Can you muffle them slightly?

Hi Margibeth, I am not aware nor certain if at all possible, to be able to muffle them at all. I tried to find additional information on the features of the Product and was unable to find any information on 'muffling' of product.
