So how do you close the door with the plugs in?????

This cover is not designed to be an in-use cover. I use this cover for exterior light and fan switches. If you are wanting to plug a cord in and close the door, you'll need to go with a deeper model that has openings in the cover to accommodate a cord.

Can you use both outlets and close the cover?

No-you can’t use either outlet and close the lid completely. When using the outlets the cover is slightly ajar.

Do I need anything else to install this like the metal box that mount on house or does this need that?

Great replacement for the original outlet cover

Appears to be an excellent quality. It was simple to install, without checking instructions. No rain here to test, but I do not expect any problems. The only issue: the hinge pin is very difficult to remove if another configuration is to be tried.The original outlet cover is a junk and breaks if you tried to insert the plug. The new one will not break: it opens wide and easily.

Great cover, looks better than thick ones.

When you need a slim cover with no hole for the cable at the bottom. If it you plan to leave a power cord permanently attached inside, you’re better off with a regular one. Installation takes 3 minutes, 5 if you want to take your time.

Easy to install and great for all outdoor situations

I got this to help minimize the motion light switch detection. The light switch was near my metal gate entrance and adjusting the sensitivity did nothing. This item was just thick enough at 1 inch to help block out the unnecessary motion. Easy to install and has a great purpose of those that want to be creative.
