The AL-1000 has a "Value Count" feature. You have to pre-sort your bills by denomination. If you input the denomination before you feed your bills into the counter, it will calculate totals. It is not a Mixed Bill Counter Machine. Bill counter do not determine the value of the bills.

Does it work with 220/240V (European)?

It does not come standard with the EU plug, but you can just use a US—EU adapter.

does it print new bills or just eat old ones?

This does not print bills it's a counter. And it work pretty good counting if all the bills are straight old or new.
