Tefal Pro Express Protect Steam Generator Iron, 7.5 Bar, White/Burgundy

I’ve had this iron nearly 2 years now and it’s a workhorse, never fails. I tried a nicer looking Philips iron before this but, having had a Tefal steam generator iron previously, the Philips was no match and was returned for this iron. It’s heavy when attached to the base and large so takes quite a bit of kitchen cabinet space. When the iron and base are separated, the hand held part is still reasonably heavy (when compared to the Philips), but, the weight helps with the pressing of creases. The steam on this iron is amazing, it just keeps coming and you can steam vertically which is great for relaxing stubborn creases out of shirts. The steam generated on this is so good that I only have to iron my children’s t-shirts on one side and, for hard to press cargo shorts and trousers, I hang them up and steam them upright, which makes light work of the task. It’s easy to clean and the anti-limescale filter is easily accessed and cleaned - just be careful that the iron has fully cooled, any built up pressure has been lost and it’s on the drained board when you unscrew it, as it is full of water. In summary, a fantastic iron, pricey for an iron but, in my opinion, well worth the investment. I bought it on the ‘5 month payment’ option, without interest. Makes it easier on the wallet.

Really good. Lightweight, easy to carry with foldaway iron lead into machine. Easy to fill tank, which slots onto body of machine easily. Easy to use iron, with fabulous steam boost again lightweight and easy to manoeuvre . Sole plate non stick non scratch and good size for jeans, duvet covers tablecloths and shirts and dresses. Cut through creased linen and cotton with ease, saving time and work. Automatic cut off safety feature when not in use. Sturdy clip holding iron onto base when in storage. Took a bit of getting used to after my last one, but had so much ironing to do, it really put it to the test and I am very pleased with it indeed. Heat cuts off when tank needs filling with water-avoids damage to the machine. Would recommend.

This is a good steam generator iron, but not great. On the plus side, it generates a lot of steam, the iron itself is lightweight and the removable water tank is a great feature. The auto-temperature feature also works very well. The negatives for me are all design-related. Starting with the controls, these are the 'blister' type, so no real positive feedback when you press them, the labels for the controls are printed in white text on a silver background (some are backlit when in use), so can be difficult to see. The iron sits lower on the base unit than the design suggests, which takes a bit of getting used to, and if you stand the iron vertically, the integrated stand is prone to allowing the iron to fall backwards due to its light weight. The steam button is also very sensitive, resulting in steam being dispensed when you might not intend (and you get a lot of steam...). All that said, the hose length is very good and the integrated cord storage does work quite well. Too early to tell how durable this unit will be, and I suspect the blister controls will stop working before anything else does. Not sure I'd pay the full price for it, but it's often discounted and therefore worth considering.

Previously owned a tefal pro express and the time had finally come to replace it. Well the new model is fantastic. It’s much lighter to use than the older version and is powerful enough to remove the most stubborn creases in my shirts etc. The iron also glides much smoother over my clothes making the task of ironing much easier.

Previous to this, I had a top of the range Philips Perfect Care steam generator iron (failed after 4 years). This new iron massivly outperforms it. Generates way more steam, pretty much on demand, and glides over fabrics. Great price, surprised by the performance for the money. Excellent results.

I originally ordered another ‘normal’ steam iron, which, according to reviews was supposed to easily remove creases and glide across your fabric. It was a well known make, but definitely did not live up to expectations, it even had what looked like residue on the plate, which did not shift and made the iron drag on the fabric. Needless to say this iron is being returned! So after much deliberation, (due to the price), and research, I decided to give this Tefal steam generator a go as the reviews were good and the normal price was reduced by £100. Having never used a steam generator Iron before, I have to say I’m really impressed. The iron itself is lovely and light to use and the water tank is huge, meaning less refills. The unit heats up reasonably quickly and is very easy to use, but the most impressive thing is that creases come out very easily, and folded items are ironed both sides at once, so my ironing time is reduced significantly, winner, winner! So far I’m a very happy customer and at this time (having only used the iron once) I would definitely recommend this iron.

Bought to replace a 13-year old Philips steam generator iron, this isn’t cheap but it is very good. Heats up quickly, excellent steam delivery, the plate adjusts the heat level so as not to inadvertently over-cook some garments, the iron itself is lighter to move around whilst ironing as well. The feature of being able to lock the iron to the generator enabling you to carry the whole thing with the iron grip is a great idea, not awkward like our old one. Can’t comment on long-term durability at this point but all the signs are good.

This iron is a must have for families but doesn’t replace your normal iron however You don’t need to keep refilling. Take out insurance with it to replace when it scales up(mine hasn’t yet after 12 months). It has it’s own stand which makes things easy. Fantastic for ironing trousers esp wool fabrics. Safer than normal irons because it is harder to burn clothes with this iron. Great for steaming blouses hanging up. Cons: Let off alot of steam in the room. Cant change the settings but I have never needed to because of the way it is. Need a sturdy board or a table top iron because slightly heavy. The cable that holds water gets warm so keep away from young children. I am so pleased with it despite everything because of the convenience of what it can do. I have a small iron for quick jobs like school shirts but I couldn’t live without this steam iron.
