Continental Gatorskin - Road Bike Tire | Tough Urban & Touring Tire for Daily Riding - PolyX Breaker, Duraskin, 2 Pack

I love these. I've ridden over 1400 miles with them so far and have only have 2 punctures (a giant industrial staple and shattered glass) and one snake bite from a huge rock, none of which I blame on the tyres. I haven't noticed any rolling resistance compared to other tyres, but I've never used low rolling resistance tyres. They look sleek and professional. Installation was a bit of a struggle at first, but they're road bike tyres, so that's typical. Definitely my go-to for tyres.

This is my first time using 28mm tires, it does make the ride much smoother, as far faster the jury is still out! These are great training tires, being 28mm you can ride them around 75+/- front and 80+/- rear PSI at (210 lbs) using tubes less tubeless, depending on your total bike load including your body weight, so they absorb all the road chatter and bumps! I can see how it could be faster on long rough road rides, since it won't bounce as much and will be easier on your legs...

Amazing product. My second set of Gatorskins for my new all carbon bike. The first set I installed on a different road bike 8 years ago and never had an issue after thousands of miles.

First set came with damaged sidewall, had a bad wobble couldn't get rid of, ordered a replacement and second one was perfect. Good tire. Would buy again.

For what Continental Gatorskins are, they are wonderful, and I always equip my bicycles (ranging from 80s roadies to modern ones) with them.Gatorskins are, for their price, the best at puncture resistance. While I absolutely have had flats (and even total wheel destruction-- Philly has terrible roads) with them, the rate at which I've been stopped during rides with these tires has been miniscule when compared to other tires I've had. Glass, metal grit, and other common hazards simply aren't a significant problem when one is riding with Gatorskins. Nails and similar industrial objects intended to puncture are, however.Traction is poor, but only in wet conditions. While I have wiped out riding on Gatorskins in the rain, I have never done so in dry weather. My advice for these is to stick with sunny day riding or have to sets of tires or wheels.One's speed riding with these things will never be extremely high, but much slower tires are out there. Keep your pressures high and you'll be happy.Gatorskins are expensive, but not astronomically so. They're absolutely wonderful for the cost.These folding tires are easy to install and remove. I've never had a serious problem mounting them, but by all means keep irons around.I'll summarize with this: I've been using them for ages, and I plan on continuing to do so.

I recently picked up a new State Core-Line to ride around. I got very tired of asking my family or friends for rides, as I don't have a car or a license.The bicycle came with these supposedly great Kenda gumwall tires, meant for flexible roads and commutes. This was not my experience.Riding around in autumn for me means thorns littering the roads and sidewalks and us cyclists get old of that pretty quick. I went through around 2-3 tubes per week, with the closest bike shop being 34 miles away. I had to come up with something.At first, it was a pain to get these on, they even broke one of my Bell tire levers. (Though, I will say that was my fault. I was being impatient and put on unnecessary pressure.) This problem fixes itself a couple rides after the initial install. They get nice and used to the shape of your rims. I've had them on for about a month now - I have yet to encounter a single issue. I haven't had a single flat with these, and it isn't a pain to ride around in the winter time at all.One fair warning: these bad boys do get pretty slick when wet. They'll definitely drop you if you dare challenge those pesky yellow, studded things or any deadly sewer grates. I read about the sidewall being pretty fragile on these things, but I haven't had an issue yet. Be cautious, put them on and you'll love every second of them.
