Review: DELICIOUS blueberries, strawberries and bananas! Heed the stated volume! - In January 2026 I bought a #10-size can each of Augason freeze-dried blueberries (12oz for $28.60, $2.38/oz), strawberries (6.4oz for $20.60 @41%off, $3.22/oz), and banana chips (25oz for $12.32). I loved the taste of the blueberries and strawberries, but the banana chips tasted more like potato chips than bananas. This is the first time I've purchased freeze-dried fruit, so I didn't know what to expect and certainly am no expert. I'm just giving my first impression and preferences. I bought them to add to oatmeal and smoothies instead of frozen berries taking up my limited freezer space. I already know I won't get the bananas again, only because I love the taste and texture of still-green bananas though i didn't expect these to be the same. I just don't see myself eating them as much as the berries. The berries are pricey, especially the strawberries, but also delicious. I was disappointment to see you only get half the volume of the other two. Opening a can half full is a bummer, but the ad does say you're getting 6.4oz, not 12oz (blueberries) or 25oz (bananas). I poured all 3 cans into Cambro food-grade containers and, well there you go. Enjoy!
Review: loaded with nutrients, excellent addition to long term food pantry - Get what you can, while you can. Spend now, or spend even more later (and that is if food is available). Doesn't need to be emergency packed food. Buy extra of what you like to eat every single time you are at the store, shop sales, go frequently (don't wipe out shelves). If you are at a spot where you want to add greater variety to put into long term storage, then Augason tends to have quality products and better prices than other emergency brands. Look for their sales, shop often, build up your supplies. I like adding blueberries into the mix as it reconstitutes well, has good flavor and texture, and is still loaded with nutrients. Easy enough to stock up on rice and beans, harder to stock up on fruits and vegetables. Grow what you can, freeze or can what you can.. and buy what you can. Freeze dried is a very nice way to get good food that is still nutritious. Most #10 (that reads, "number ten" not ten pound) cans will maintain freshness and quality for 10-25 years after production date. If opened, it will be shorter; depends on what you get. Blueberries in my experience are perfectly fine for a long time. Environmental factors will impact this. The cans are pest proof, can take a beating (even if dented should be fine as foods are freeze dried and have no moisture to sustain bacterial growth), can float if not opened, and are a standard size for stacking and uniformity (hence why weights will vary, and some stuff only fills a little of can).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Organic, wild grown or commercially grown?**
A: As the listing and the package say neither "organic" nor "wild", one must presume that they are commercially grown, which can include the use of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. It would be nice for Augason Farms to provide more information, and even better for them to provide a certified-organic product.

**Q: Can you pls confirm the fruit's country of origin? we see the product is "made in the usa," but would like to also confirm the fruit's origin. thanks!**
A: Our blueberries are cultivated in the USA and Canada.

**Q: Do the blueberries retain their high antioxidants, or does the freezedrying proccess change that?**
A: The International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition claim that the antioxidant activity of vacuum freeze-dried blueberries did not differ significantly from that found in fresh blueberries.
A Sciendo study found that freeze-dried blueberries have a higher content of
polyphenols, higher antidiabetic activity, and
antioxidant capacity compared to fresh blueberries. So it appears that vacuum freeze dried blueberries are very good for you.

**Q: does shipping time & temps affect the product?**
A: Neither affect the product as it is air sealed tight can. We ordered several different ones and they were all great!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ healthy and flavorful, tastes about the same as other brands of canned blueberries
*by L***2 on October 5, 2025*

We really like these berries. The can contains only berries, with no added sugar, oil, or salt. We add them to pancakes, breakfast cereals, and salads. A large spoonful of berries adds a lot of flavor and the large can lasts a long time, with no refrigeration or special handling required. The label says 26 servings per can, but we get a lot more servings than that since we are using the berries as a topping, not a complete dish. Price of this can jumps all over the place. We are happy that Amazon now sells 3 different brands of canned blueberries. They all taste about the same to us, so we buy which ever one is the cheapest. Sometimes one of the other brands costs half as much as this brand.
