We will soon be moving from one home very far away to a new home, and I wanted him to be able to package his treasured Henkels knives (along with his magnetic knife strip) in such a way that he could keep a close watch on them and not just throw them in a box. This is definitely the way to go!If you're looking for "compact" once it's opened, this is not the bag for you. It certainly does take up counter space when gully unfurled; but for our purposes this is the perfect chef's companion. It's highly functional and has great space for items other than knives, which also drew me to it. It does hold up to 20 knives, and although I have read other reviews stating that the tips of the knives have no barrier to keep them from falling out should they be turned upside down, there is a velcro strap that, when the bag is folded, will absolutely keep your cutlery secure.The weight and quality of this bag is exceptional. It's durable enough to be trustworthy, but light enough to be usable.
