I think it works better than the original one that my wife "misplaced" with two rechargeable batteries. The old one was fine but I discovered these things have a fan inside but it never kicked on in the old one and it got hot. This new charger for sure has a fan and it is very evident. Can't beat the price for this as they are usually 3 times what I paid. I consider myself fortunate that I'm not out a hundred bucks to replace something my wife threw in the trash that had no issues. Now I need to get the 18v batteries replaced and my Makita cordless stuff will be useful again. Last note...these Makita cordless tools have lasted longer than ALL the other cordless brands I have ever had and I have owned most of them. From the old Sears branded stuff to the cheap ten dollar junk you can get on the junk site that sounds like "team" and add a U to it. Just get the Makita stuff and you won't need to replace it as long as you don't over abuse it.
