Radio works fairly well. I live in a major metropolitan area so there's good signal quality. Plus, the old fashioned long antenna does wonders for the signal. Stations come in very loud and robust with a very clear speaker sound. The NOAA weather stations seem to only have two channels in this region. But they are beneficial when necessary. I've used them at least two or three times already when the storms and tornadoes have hit. Uses AA batteries. And it doesn't siphon that much energy from them. So expect long and good use whenever you turn it on before having to replace. Build quality seems pretty sturdy. There's nothing fancy about this. No new school tech. Just old-fashioned reliable parts and knobs with a basic radio that works. Tested out the earphones port and it works well with a headset also. If you want a radio that's pocket-sized and works very well that you can carry with you anywhere and you don't want to depend on your mobile device, this is a good keeper that will last you a long time. You can listen to your regular tunes or your favorite channel, or your local news radio when dangerous weather isn't around. But it's good to have when emergencies are in place. I would highly recommend. Will probably most likely be getting a second one for my office desk.

The quality is better than I expected. Build quality, reception and sound quality are all pretty good. The size makes it handy and easy to take anywhere. Weatherband has a good strong signal. The tuning indicator is a bit off from the channel but it's close enough to be functional. I'm glad I went analog instead of digital for tuning. Might get another to add to the emergency kit in the jeep. Update: Six months in and it still works great. Used it for weather alerts through a rough night. No disaster issues but having this kept us informed and gave me piece of mind during a big storm. I did buy a second for the jeep and may buy a third for my tackle box.

It works very well

It's a nice size and the sound quality is pretty good. Having the weather band is a nice touch. It's hard to tell which station you're on, but once you find the one you want it stays on pretty well. For the price it's a good deal

Great little receiver economically priced

This simple radio really took me back to the days before home internet and streaming services. Which is exactly why I got it. I bought this when a certain wifi speaker from a large online retailer kept timing music out for my nonverbal kid. The sound is great. The reception is clear. The operation is simple. The battery use is less than expected. Its compact and would be great for camping. This radio even looks like high tech in 1997. Plus I get to be a dork and listen to the weather forecast. If you're looking for a time tested form of entertainment get one of these.

Nice size to the radio, with a fairly long antenna, speaker is very clear but the switch to pick which band (AM,FM,Weather) is hard to figure out ? You would think with the FM band at the top, moving the switch up would tune the radio to FM- nope, the opposite is true, you have to slide the switch all the way down (opposite). I expected the Tuner to be better, but it isn’t, you have to move it very carefully/ gingerly to pinpoint the exact station. I think I’m being generous with a 4⭐️ rating, might be more like a 3.5.
