I live in the harsh Nevada desert. would the long sleeve be too hot in my climate?

I was a combat medic, served in the big sand box, and treated heat casualties, and ultimately was a heat casualty. I live in hot humid climate now, and must wear breathable clothing to prevent overheating. The key to any piece of summer clothing is loose clothing. What you want is light and loose fitting. Depending on your body I would suggest getting a size or two larger. I tried the snug look of under armor heat gear years ago in a professional seeting and discovered despite the breathable material, I still got hot. Summary.... summer = loose and light. I have found even the cheaper shirts work if over sized like I suggest.

I'm pretty tall. What are the torso and sleeve lengths like for an XL?

I'm almost 6'3" and 220 lbs and both sleeve and torso length is great.

Does this shirt have UV protection?

I can not verify that the materials used in this garment are UV materials but I bought it for and wear it for protection from the sun in lieu of sunscreen. I do normally wear it under a polo or short sleeve shirt during outdoor activities.
