I just used painter’s tape from the dollar store to keep the paint from getting anywhere other than the soles. Used it on two old leather gun holsters. They holsters were black and tan used matching colors. Didn’t dilute the paint just cleaned and applied. It made them look brand new. Without all the old shoe polishing. Seems flexible. Don’t know about the durability yet. Probably put on three light coats to get solid color back . Left a semi low shine look.
