Do I need to run it under the water to expand the towel? If so, am I supposed to use a damp towel to dry my body then?

I used the large bath size towels to dry off after showering. There was no need to wet the towel at all.

Can I wash them? How will it turn out?

Yes. All the disposable towels I used, wash very well and get softer and more absorbent. I use them again or cut for cleaning rugs. The other comment left by the moron, was totally rude.
