Review: Best dental care for my cat; glad to find it on desertcart - This is a great product, and I was relieved to find it available on desertcart and easy to order. I was disappointed when local pet supply stores stopped stocking Purina DentaLife Cat Treats and tried to steer me to unfamiliar brands supposedly more "natural". My cat has trouble chewing other brands or doesn't like the flavor and won't touch them again. She loves the DentaLife. She is about nine years old and has lost two teeth. Soon after I adopted her at two years, her breath was awful and I let her vet do the dental cleaning which requires general anesthesia. Although it did the job, I hate putting a cat through that, and I've heard stories about pets not coming out of the anesthesia and dying. Rather than go that route every year, I try to maintain my cat's dental health with a regular remedy at home. The DentaLife treats seem to be working. I don't detect bad breath when my cat is near me. The vet has been impressed at how clean her teeth are during regular check-ups. On learning that I was using DentaLife, the vet also thought that fiber content in the treats might help alleviate a chronic hairball issue (although not completely, and that's another story). The VOHC seal displayed on this product was mentioned by the vet as something to look for when shopping for pet dental care products. Review: Purina DentaLife Cat Treats really clean my cat's teeth! - One of my cats had to have 2 teeth removed last year due to a condition where the tartar caused damage to the gum tissue and nerves. The vet clinic gave me a sheet with care suggestions ranging from cleaning my cats teeth daily to adding a liquid to the water. I opted to try the liquid which I began adding 1 drop to the bowl - the cat wouldn't drink the water. I searched on desertcart and found the Purina DentaLife Tasty Chicken Flavor Treats. The directions say to give no more than 17 per day (Since I am retired, he gets 5 three times during the day and 2 before bed). To my surprise, he loves them. After 5 months of giving him the treats I took him back to the vet and the vet was amazed at how healthy my cat's mouth looked. I now give them to my Siamese to keep her tiny mouth healthy. Purina has another excellent product that I will continue to purchase. ## Features - One (1) 13.5 oz. My cat cannot chew those properly.** A: I do not know anything about greenish dental treats are not soft your cat might have a hard time they are not brick hard but have firmness to them... **Q: Would these work better than freeze dried chicken? I give my cats large dog sized treats. They help but they still get tartar?** A: I have 3 very large Maine Coons. Maine Coons, in addition to being 1 of the largest domesticated cats, they have a very large mouth. Most treats are smaller and they tend to not chew about half of what is in there mouth. They are nice and big and they love them. They are big enough to pick up with their foot and put it in there mouth. This year when they had their yearly physical, the vet commented that one of the males and my females teeth looked great. Last year she had noted that both were going to more than likely going to have their teeth cleaned because of tartar build up but their teeth look great. She thought maybe I had started brushing them. Nope they had just been eating Purina DentaLife chicken and salmon treats and they loved them. They must not have a high calorie count because Nick still weighed 30.2 lbs, Bunny weighed 18.4 lbs and Ace was a little less at 29.9 lbs. By the way all 3 are a perfect weight for their bone size, length and height. Chicken is ABSOLUTELY their favorite! **Q: How many pouches are included? Is it 10 as it states in the description? Thanks.** A: I do not order the pouches; I order the 13.5 oz pllastic jar. **Q: Can these be used for kittens?? Im looking for larger treat as rewards in training.** A: I've been using these on my 11 week old kitten and she loves them. They take a little while for her to chew- but that's probably a good thing since it gives the treats more time to work as advertised. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best dental care for my cat; glad to find it on Amazon *by C***E on September 5, 2019* This is a great product, and I was relieved to find it available on Amazon and easy to order. Well, I guess me as the owner of the cat, I would not be able to speak to the flavor and scent part of the rating...... ;) The only thing I can tell is, Simba the cat loves the midnight dental treat. And this is the only dental treat that he would not gobble down without chewing. Kinda of defeat the purpose of the dental part of the treat if a cat can just swallow without chewing. This reason alone is enough for this dental treat to be top ranked!!
