Does transfer paper work the same way?

I am using this on my diamond paintings instead of the paper or plastic they come with. They are slightly see through so it won't keep the picture a secret. It allows me to take off one square at a time to finish that section. It prevents the sticky paper from losing it's stick.

Will it leave a mess behind on your painting

No it won't. The worst mess is if you spill the dots lol! I call it a dotastrophe!

Is this used before putting diamonds on painting are before

It’s used for organizing your diamond painting before. I use the paper so I can work in sections. So yes, to answer your question, it’s used before putting the diamonds on the canvas.
