In praise of Charlie D. "Falloonยs eloquent explication of the life of the legendary Charlie D delivers a good read while exposing that most under-publicized commodity of them allยa mega-trader with a low public profile whose superhuman trading abilities were exceeded by only one thingยthe extended reach of his heart and soul." ยPatrick H. Arbon Chairman, Chicago Board of Trade "Charlie D. is a tribute to the entrepreneurial spirit of Charlie D, whose legend still lives today on our trading floors. It also captures the essence of the men and women of Chicago who, working in a unique environment, through their trading provide economic benefits around the world." ยThomas R. Donovan President and Chief Executive Officer Chicago Board of Trade "Charlie D was uniqueยa poker-faced, unemotional, swashbuckling trader every other trader seeks to emulate. At the same time, he was also a model of trading integrity and one of the most generous people I have ever known. Whether trading or gambling, vacationing with family or golfing with superstars, he did everything with a special flair and spirit. Charlie was truly larger than life." ยThomas DeMark Author of The New Science of Technical Analysis and New Market Timing Techniques "Falloon captures the essence of the Charlie D I knew and rekindles my memories of a larger-than-life individualยhow he laughed in the face of cancer, his generosity, and his sense of humor." ยMike Manning Rand Financial Services, Inc. "Charlie D was the most dynamic trader Iยve ever seen in my nineteen years in this business, and, beyond that, the best human being Iยve known." ยTom Fitzgerald TPF Trading Review: Amazing - The quality of the paper and the hardcover are amazing. The contents of the book are on a whole different level. Review: A rare gem in a bullsh#t infested industry - I read the 1 other review of this book, and I felt compelled to write my own review. The other reviewer quite rightly writes that this is not a book about practical advice on trading. I accept that, but to say it is a waste of time is a gross injustice to what I consider to be an outstanding trading book. Why do I say that? Well, consider that trading books are a dime a dozen, and consider that there is no shortage of trading books, trading newsletters, trading services, trading seminars, trading web-seminars etc, and yet the failure rate in the trading industry, at least among private traders is around 90-95%, then alarm bells should ring. The path to profits is not just a function of technical or fundamental analysis. It is not just about becoming an expert in one method or one candlechart set-up. Rather it is the combination of both the technical foundation and the mental framework. I believe that the author has captured so well what made Charlie a great trader. He was a pit trader, so there was no access to screens. You may think that this makes the book un-applicable to the modern-day trader, but in reality, what anyone who will take the time to read this book will take away from it is that Charlie was a great trader because of how he was thinking while he was trading. I believe in there lies the truth value of this book. My 2 pence worth

Bad print quality
Check for bad print quality. Mine has the writings "Print and bound by CPI Group (UK)" on the last page and lack the "Printed in the Unites Statef of America" in the first page. I sent it back and asked for a refund.

Very good
This is not a trading book. You will not learn anything about trading. What you will learn is the life of Charlie D. What he stood for, his true love for the pit and trading. Unfortunately you can't stop thinking if the author couldn't have done a better job with this book. At least 2 chapters have nothing to do with Charlie and the ones that talk about him you can't stop thinking that more could have been said. Nevertheless, I did appreciate the reading.

Really bad book
This is by far one of the worst books on trading that I have read, and Iโve read over a hundred books on finance. The first 30 percent of the book was just talking about how great Charlie was and it just went on about his personal life. It was very boring. The only trading advice is, add to your winning trades, and cut your losing trades. The whole book could have been summed up in one sentence.

If you trade this is a must read.
A fabulous insight into the life of one of the greatest. I can highly recommend it.
