Can I pour boiling water into this pitcher safely?

Yes, I boil water in my pitcher daily. Then I put it in the freezer right from the stove after 4 minutes of brewing tea, to cool the tea fast. No problems!

Does the lid seal air tight?

It dose have a clear rubber gasket around the rim but it appears to be vented with a holes making a screen on the lids side.
