10 years ago, these were some of the best environmental monitors available. Unfortunately, if you buy one of these today, you're buying the same 10 year old technology. AVTECH has abandoned the product and apparently only puts effort into their website and the sale of "premium" services.Like another reviewer stated, you cannot use a modern external SMTP/email provider and instead you are sucked into a reliance on AVTECH to provide you email alerts. Besides a lack of TLS support, they stupidly limit the SMTP server field limit to a length that cannot accept a FQDN. They also severly limit your reporting options unless you subscribe to some kind of premium service. I don't like being tied to their service (and yes, I know I can use SNMP, so don't bother schooling me on that AVTECH - I don't want to do that - I just want an email) since I doubt AVTECH will be around much longer. I won't get any alerts when they go belly-up.The unit I purchased came with a bum external temperature probe as well - one that reads +/- 50 degree temperature swings seconds apart generating dozens of alerts per minute. Triggered, cleared, triggered, cleared and on and on.No quality control, no innovation, no firmware updates after a couple years on the model you buy today, forcing you to purchase again and again even though there is no change to the hardware itself after at least a decade.Please look elsewhere if you need to monitor something valuable. You could build something much better with a Raspberry Pi and 25 dollar temperature sensors, the same thing AVTECH sells for four times that amount.

Old technology that does not work with any modern email servers using TLS (like Office 365 or Gmail) so the email alert feature is unusable! BIG disappointment for an IT product!UPDATE 1: I contacted AVTECH and they worked with me to swap this unit out for another product that supports the current email server standards.UPDATE 2: I received a 12S today and it will not connect to an Office 365 account either. AVTECH tech support confirmed the issue and says it will be fixed in the future. In the meantime, I must either subscribe to another email service or subscribe to AVTECH's recurring annual service.UPDATE 3: I was able to get it to work with a GMail account but only after setting the GMail account to allow "Less secure app access." Again, concerning for a device installed in a data center.
