## Description

From the Manufacturer Recreate your very own piece of aviation history with the historic Sopwith Camel. This detailed replica of one of the most recognizable British single-seat biplanes ever to have graced the skies. Features include a realistic rotating propeller and engine cylinders, hinged tail rudder, realistic tension wires, functioning wing ailerons and tail flaps that can be controlled from the cockpit – just like the real plane! The detail doesn't stop there; this authentic model has over 880 bricks, including rare dark green, dark tan and metallic silver elements.

Review: Best Lego set I have ever had - Had tons of Legos as a kid and hadn't had any for 25 years until the architecture series came out and I had to have Fallingwater and the Farnsworth house. Bought this set because I love old warplanes, especially the WWI planes. I was curious how little details would be handled and I was not disappointed. The moving ailerons and elevators were an awesome touch. Having built mostly from-scratch creations forever, you get a sense of ingenuity in how the little details add up to a final product that better than the sum of its parts (pieces). This is definitely one of those sets. Kudos to the designer(s) who created this one. Only two minor quibbles - the rotary engine has eight cylinders, while the various engines used in the Camel all had nine. Also the lower wings tilted slightly up at the tips versus flat uppers in the actual. That says more about my dork factor than about any oversight from Lego though. Also, it would be nearly impossible to create a model that could incorporate those details without using some really weird pieces that wouldn't be in line with standard lego dimensions and ratios, etc. Overall 6 stars for this model if I could give 6!
Review: Challenging project for my experienced Lego builder - I bought this for Christmas for my 12 year old who is a very experienced Lego builder. He loved the challenge - - said it was more complex than any he had done in the past and so it was very rewarding when he completed it. The flaps go up and down which make it realistic. This is a wonderful set and looks great as a display piece in his room. Best of all, he feels a great sense of accomplishment at having completed the Sopwith Camel. I recommend this for a child who is ready to go the next level of complexity, or an older child who wants to build a collector's piece.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a factory sealed box? In other words, is it new - unused?**
A: Mine from an authorized Amazon seller, was sealed, new, and all parts were sealed in individual plastic bags. It has 2 thick instruction books, and took me about 7 hours to complete. It has 880+ parts & flight surfaces are controlled from a joystick.

**Q: Can you power the propeller with the "power functions" motors available?**
A: No motors come with this set, and the set is not designed or "ready" for the addition of a power function motor. Although possible, I expect this would be a challenging project for most.

**Q: How many pieces?**
A: almost 900. My Grandson really enjoyed it.. He was a lot younger than recommended age.

### ⭐ Do not buy!
*by J***S on December 24, 2023*

Multiple pieces broke under normal assembly. I've never had this issue before, but this set literally fell apart in my hands. I was excited for this build but don't buy it!
