Question 1

Ive been trying to use this indoor but it wont read my swing. How do i troubleshoot this?

Accepted Answer

Here is some troubleshooting information from Garmin. You can also contact them directly if you are still having issues. You will also need the R10 unit to be between 6 to 8 feet behind the ball that is not shown in the below information. The below information is distance from the hitting net to the ball. The more distance the ball is away from the net the more accurate the readings will be. 8 feet shown below is the minimum. 10-12 feet would be even more accurate.

Shots Are Inaccurate or Not Being Detected Indoors

Indoor usage of the device can be affected by different factors than outdoor usage.

The tee/ball location must be at least 8 ft. (2.4 m) away from the net when playing indoors. This allows for enough launch angle on shots to be properly measured.
Metal and concrete objects can affect the radar detecting shots. Other than keeping it at the 8 ft. distance away from the poles on nets, it is ideal to keep other objects away from the device and hitting surface.
If you are using a golf mat, make sure the bottom edge of the device sits above the mat.

Question 2

Does monitor include club path metrics?

Accepted Answer

The Approach R10 has tracking metrics such as club head speed, ball speed, spin, launch angle, launch direction, smash factor and more. You can also see and analyze your own swing with video clips that feature your real stats overlaid on each shot.

Question 3

Do you have to pay the annual fee for the software or will it work without.

Accepted Answer

The Approach R10's software and the updates are provided by Garmin at no cost. There is only a fee for the Garmin Golf App Membership for virtual golfing. For more information contact us at product.support@garmin.com or visit our Support Center, https://support.garmin.com/en-US/. Thanks Jenny

Question 4

Will this work with a hockey puck or baseball pitch? Like just the overall speed not all the other stats specific to golf.

Accepted Answer

I would highly doubt it would track those. Golf launch monitors struggle to detect extremely low shots in general so I don't think it would detect a hockey puck shot because those are really low even though the swing is similar with a hockey stick compared to a golf club. Also the shape and size of a hockey puck is just not similar to a golf ball. No idea how you would even set it up to detect a baseball pitch since this device is very small and placed on the ground. This device detects golf swing paths and a baseball pitch is just not similar to a golf shot at all so doubtful on this as well. I couldn't see it being any what accurate if its not used for golf.
