Works well, very loud
The New HUD laws require all apartments and homes to have a smoke detector in each bedroom, the front room, and 1 detector outside every bedroom, no further than 8 feet from the door in the hallway. This is a mandatory requirement for all landlords. I have hardwired detectors with battery backups, but I did not have the detectors in the hallways within 8 feet of the bedroom doors. So, these were exactly what I needed. I HIGHLY recommend you replace the alkaline batteries with Lithium 9V ones. They will last 8 years. My experience with Alkaline was they lasted no more than 5 years. The Lithium batteries are the only ones I use now in everything. They are hard to find in the stores. Amazon has them in all sizes, and the price is fair. I just stocked up on AAA , AA, and 9V ones, to have extras. But, if you rent out a property, and the county inspects once a year, or when a tenant leaves, the ABSOLUTELY will be checking for these detectors within the 8 feet of the bedroom doors. They sent letters a few months ago to all landlords. The worst thing is to spend the entire day waiting for the inspector and fail for a simple thing like a smoke detector. I keep an extra and I keep extra GFCI outlets. There are new requirements for those. In the kitchen, bathrooms, outside outlets, and the laundry area. The laundry area was new last year.

Alarms work great

They work great easy to install.
The only drawback is where we placed the one in the kitchen it goes off easily. Very sensitive. Heating tortillas, cooking an egg etc.

They don't go off to a room full of smoke
We replaced three of our old smoke detectors with these, one in the kitchen and two right outside the kitchen. Last night my wife made pizza, and as she was taking one of the pizzas out of the oven it flipped and all the contents landed on the bottom of the oven, immediately filling the entire kitchen in a thick cloud of smoke that was choking us and that we could barely see through. Not one of the three smoke detectors ever went off. Not even a beep. We tested each one and they were functional according to the test, but they still wouldn't go off. Don't risk your life on this product or waste your money. We are replacing them immediately.

Excellent replacement smoke detectors
I had detectors in the house that weren't working right, so I ordered a three pack of these. The installation went well and I haven't had any problems with the operation of the smoke detectors. Recommend

Not for apartment houses or dorm use
All our smoke detectors needed to be replaced. I assume that these work fine. They are also fairly priced. The reason I am writing this review is because as I read the instructions I thought I found conflicting information but after a second read-through, it was just misleading and I want future buyers to read carefully.Note in the second picture where I circled “Perfect for dorms or apartments “ that is referring to the BRAND of detector, not this specific model. In the next photo with text circled it says “It will not meet the requirements for boarding houses, apartment, buildings, hotels, or motels.” And refers you to Special Compliance Considerationssection.I just want buyers to beware if you are a landlord to read the fine print and follow code.
