Purchased this to keep my first colony of beetles. I decided I wanted to have live plants and living soil to support the colony and for a more natural look. I dove into the world of isopods and it has been a blast learning about insect keeping and how to provide for that ecosystem. In order to conveniently accomplish this I needed a water tight base, air flow and an access point. This unit really delivers on that and has a nice aesthetic. This unit is nicer that the competitors at a cheaper price point per my research and use of this unit. I'm glad my research in advance confirmed this is the right one for my purposes and price point. Overall pros / cons: Pros: - water proof base to ensure watered soil, plants, etc stays in. This can help maintain some humidity if you seal up some vents. - Tons of vents for air flow - great if this is what you need for whatever you're housing. (see con below) - Looks great - top feeding ports (I have not utilized these myself but could be really handy if you don't want to open the entire front door) - space saving shape (as opposed to any other slanted walls on a critter box or larger framed units) Con: - Depending on your needs this could provide too much air flow. The entire top is vented with 3/4 metal mesh of high quality and 1/4 plastic venting with feeding ports. I actually wanted to maintain more humidity and my critters do not require much airflow so I covered with plastic wrap. I also needed to seal up the vents to avoid / minimize a fungus knat infestation I was fighting in my houseplants at the time. Other points: The latch is secure to the door. I did see some reviews commenting on the latch but I have not had any issues. It does take a two handed approach which if you're holding food to add to the enclosure it can be challenging but you learn to use it as is and becomes a natural action after a while.

Amazing enclosure for my southern devil scorpion who is about an inch long. I'd recommend this size for most insects, young amphibians(baby toads/frogs, not suitable for adults though!), arachnids- I think this would be especially great for jumping spiders because of the front opening as they make webs at the roof of the enclosure. Too small for an reptile/hermit crab whatsoever apart from the tiny-est of young geckos/garter snakes. Perhaps okay for very small baby tarantulas but even that could be pushing it. If your planning on keeping a more tropical species in this tank you ought to cover the main(biggest) screen on top with saran wrap or something of the sort(just a tip as my scorpion also requires higher humidity). The lock can be difficult but its definitely doable, took me about a minute to figure out but was a breeze from there. The feeding doors on the roof are great for dropping in insects like crickets that could jump out the main door before it can be closed. It came in very good packaging, never received a broken tank from this company. Under the right circumstances, this is an AMAZING enclosure.

Very cute. Perfect for what I needed it for. I grow carnivorous plants. My sun pitcher plant needs high humidity. This terrarium is perfect for it.

I've used several vivarium/terrarium setups like this in past. None of them are perfect. A few pros and cons regarding this one specifically: Pros: - Single pane of glass on the front allows for clear viewing - Solid construction and no damage during shipping - The size I needed. It's small, but perfect for my pet (orchid mantis) Cons: - Door is difficult to open. Not like I cannot open it, but it's just not ergonomic. I have to use both hands and fiddle with it for 2 seconds rather than it being natural. - Not fruit fly proof. Actually none of the competitors are either. I covered the feeding port and ventilation holes with electrical tape (black) and siliconed the seams around the door then used a razor blade to cut through the silicone so the door can move freely again. Don't worry about ventilation because there is still a huge screen on the top to allow for that. All in, I think it's one of the best on the market and certainly available with Prime shipping. I would love to see someone solve the issues mentioned above but they can be fixed or dealt with by the end user.
