However, when they start leaking they make almost no noise...I had to pull the tank cover to hear the very faint hissing and see the spill bucket was full to the rim & spilling over into the tank/bowl very slightly. The hissing was inaudible with the cover on & the leakage was slow enough not to present itself in the bowl...where it did show up was on my water bill which was triple the normal amount. So yes, the flapperlesss toilets are much better but you need to keep a close ear/eye on them & pull the cover periodically to inspect for leaks. The flappers are noisy when they are leaking & often just jiggling the handle shuts them off. The valve that this one replaced was only about 5 years old but the seal/metering pin are subject to wear & degradation...don't find this out the expensive way! The valve is super easy to replace (make sure to flush the line out first if you turned the water off at the wall) & don't forget to swap the little white round restrictor orifice from the old one to the new one. If any adjustment is necessary just turn the thumb screw on the float, no tools are required for the job. I wasn't happy as I'm a complete idiot when it comes to home maintenance (i'm learning, but its a steep curve for me). So I was somewhat shocked when I lifted the toilet lid off to see what was inside (really who does that?) Both the wife and I looked at each other and said what the heck is this? So googled the model and found out what kind of toilet and valves work. Found the product here on AMZN. Ordered it, just arrived a few minutes ago. Opened the box (complete intact, not damaged), and yup, same product. So, I went over to the toilet, removed old fluidmaster and replace with my shiny new one. To my surprise. IT WORKED! and it took me as long as to unscrew the old one, toss it into the bin, and screw in the new one. Did 5 flush tests, adjusted water flow to a nice fill rate (who wants slow? If you gotta go, you gotta go!), and I am happy. I can check this off my man card and say yes, I fixed the toilet. I'll be buying another fluidmaster next month to keep as a backup, since I have 2 toilets with this device and I ALWAYS want a spare on hand. My suggestion, find out how many you have, and purchase an extra throw on the shelf, so when it breaks down, your good to go. Thank you, product is excellent, works, easy to install. No tools needed. Lift toilet lid, unscrew old fluidmaster, screw in new fluid master, adjust water flow and place lid back on toilet. GOOD TO GO. This was an excellent experience all around, so 5 stars from me.
