Ito En Oi Ocha Green Tea, 20-Count, 1.4 Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4)

I have been drinking 2-3 cups of green tea a day for the past 3-4 years because of the great health benefits. I drink a variety of teas, but my go to for the past year has been this ito en green tea. The taste isn't very bold or bitter, but rather a good balance of both. It is smooth and has no lingering aftertaste. I have tried the green tea matcha version, but that has more of an earthy taste to it that I do not care for. Bigelow is my other go to green tea, and that has an entirely different taste than the ito en. The Bigelow tea is bolder and more bitter. I highly recommend this tea for it's good flavor balance pleasant aroma and smooth taste.

Great product. Healthy, nutritious, and convenient. I think it even helps me fast and is an excellent coffee replacement.

I first had this particular Japanese tea in bottle form and loved its bright green flavor and astringency. It has the unique character of kukicha/twig tea but with a freshness that that tea is missing. It now rotates through my mornings with matcha, jasmine and Earl Green. Lovely. Incidentally, I brew all my teas cold overnight which gives me the flavor profoundly because I never 'burn' the teas, but helps me to avoid many of the stimulant properties which I don't need. The jasmine is particularly good brewed this way.

This is my preferred brand of green tea bags when in Japan, so I am very happy to be able to buy it here. Nice aroma and good taste. Good value. However, it would be nice if it had been packed in a box as usual, instead of a mailing bag, as the light cardboard tea boxes were crushed!

Pros-The order sent En Oi Ocha green tea was correct Yay! I ordered another brand twice & was given the wrong tea before ordering En Oi Ocha. The order came faster that expected! Yay! Cons- the expiration date on all 4 boxes I received is October 2020. I bought this tea in the store late last year & the expiration date was not until 2021. A longer expiration date of at least a year would be nice.

I called the company and they confirmed that tea leaves for this product is all from Japan. I just read an article about the tea leaves from China is contaminated with lead, so I feel safer than most of the green tea bags we get in U.S. which are using tea leaves from China even when they are packaged somewhere else. This tea taste good and authentic too.

I actually discovered this tea at a sushi restaurant and convinced the waiter to tell me the brand. I had never had green tea that was so smooth, earthy without being grassy, and just pure delicious. Our whole family, even the kids, are hooked. We put 1 packet in 6 ounces of water and brew for 3 minutes. Never bitter. Always yum!
