Q: How high off the ground is the flap (the rise)? My dog is very short and needs a small (short) rise.

The rise depends on the size of the flap. The rise can be from 1 1/2" for the small cat flap to 8" for the super large door. What size door do you need?

Q: Please define modular in regards to this product?

The door is 'modular' in that it comes in two pieces--the flap door piece is around 20 inches--and it screws into the larger glass/plastic piece. I am thinking this was probably done to package it so to fit in a 6ft length box.

Q: Are there alternative flaps I can purchase and install that have features like locking the flap for only going inside?

I don't sell any like that, but have seen them for sale. You can't switch flaps. You need to buy a door that is built with the electronic mechanism.

Q: Can this door be used on double sliding doors which meet in the middle. It would have to be mounted in the center of the track or on the outside of 1

I could be Installed if: your track is at least one inch wide, and your door is aluminum. If it's vinyl, you would need to shorten the pet door by an inch which can be done. If you buy the door, I email instructions on how to shorten it.
