Expensive but absolutely delicious

I picked up Hotel Chocolat Velvetised Chocolate Cream expecting a nice little treat. What I actually got was a deliciously smooth chocolate ambush. The first sip was so rich and velvety that I briefly considered cancelling all future dessert plans because this bottle had already won. It's like someone melted a luxury chocolate shop, added a splash of cream, and somehow made it socially acceptable to drink. The texture is ridiculously smooth. Not "smooth for a liqueur" smooth—I'm talking "silk pyjamas sliding down a polished banister" smooth. Every sip tastes like a chocolate truffle got promoted to management. The bottle says 500ml, but I'm fairly certain it shrinks when nobody is looking. One minute it's full, the next you're staring at the bottom wondering who drank it. My only criticism is that it has set impossibly high standards for every other chocolate drink in existence. Everything else now tastes like it was made by someone who has only heard rumours about chocolate.

I feel compelled to write this as I can't take the top review seriously I bought the hotel chocolat, the mozart and dooleys for christmas. the chocolates lasted about 2 days and could have lasted abut 2 hours. dooleys lasted longer for flavour sipping reasons hotel chocolate and dooleys - much more liquid, the mozart is a lot gloopier. the hotel chocolat is 12%, then mozart is 18% and dooleys 17% - so I suspect you are paying more for the hotel chocolate brand, and are getting more alcohol in the mozart and dooleys the dooleys you can taste by sipping it, the hotel chocolate and mozart you need half a glass to get the flavour. this means the dooleys can last a week whereas the hotel and mozart you can finish off in a day hotel and mozart are 500ml, the dooleys arrives in 700ml. I bought the dooleys 20 years ago and I am sure it has gotten a lot sweeter. neither bottle design gives you any idea how much is left, its a shake the bottle deal. I can confirm that due to being able to taste it with a sip, the dooleys lasts longer will I be buying again? at 20 quid, for a special occassion, possibly. thats about £3 for a tasteable serving of the chocolate and 50p for a tasteable serving of the dooleys. had the chocolate drinks been less creamy and more chocolatey, I suspect sipping may have been possible. maybe the dooleys is just richer in flavour
