A fantastic supplement for dogs that has so many great health benefits! We've been using it for years now and love it!
We've been buying this same brand of organic ocean kelp for years now but had been buying it at a local natural pet store in 8 oz bags. purchasing this big 5 pound bag is definitely the way to go for us! Kep is good for dogs for so many reasons. The reason we started buying it was for our dogs' teeth. Mud Bay, the local pet store we had been buying it at, has it in the teeth cleaning section of the store so we asked about it. They highly recommended it to help keep our dogs' teeth clean as they had heard great things about it. It also helps freshen their breath. It smells kind of fishy but their breath doesn't smell fishy after eating it. They LOVE the taste of it! I sprinkle it on top of their food at breakfast time and, since I add, water, pumpkin, and some other things to their food, it sticks very nicely. Some of the other benefits of giving your dog kelp are: 1. Kelp is known for being iodine rich and thyroid problems, in humans and dogs, are often related to an iodine deficiency. Iodine has been used for a very long time to medically treat thyroid problems. Because it's so rich in iodine, kelp is the perfect supplement to keep your furry friend's entire glandular system (especially the thryroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands in healthy working order. In turn, your dog will have a great metabolism and it will be easier to maintain a healthy weight. 2. Studies have shown that help greatly reduces the amount of fleas on a dog if there is an infestation. We use topical flea treatments but love that the kelp also helps keep them away. 3. Keop also helps support many of your dog's other bodily functions. It cleans the digestive system and fortifies the blood (due to it's high iron content), which helps the heart to pump more efficiently. 4. It's great to give to older dogs to help strengthen their immune systems and protect them from a wide range of diseases. The amino acids help to repair tissue so dogs taking kelp tend to heal faster. Kelp can actually help both you and your dog live longer so start supplementing your dog with this kelp and find a good kelp for humans so you can start taking it as well!! I have only listed some of the benefits but there are many many more I didn't even touch on. Just a really great supplement that I highly recommend and feel really good about giving to our dogs! The ingredient list is nice and short and contains one ingredient: Dried organic kelp. No additives at all. It is ecologically and sustainably harvested from the pure, unpolluted, remote reaches of Northern Iceland. You can get an idea of what the kelp looks like from my somwhat blurry pic (sorry, I tried) and the other pic is 6 of our 7 dogs who love and get all the great benefits of this kelp! Okay, and Kaya, can't leave her out <3 And the last pic is of the kelp sprinkled on 2 of their bowls of food.

So far so good.
Seems high quality and a little goes a long way. I bought this for the dental benefits and I know that takes months to fully realize so Iโm being patient. It does seem to help with their breath odor after only a week. The dogs donโt hate it so Iโm gonna use it for a long time. I also put it on our cats food too.

Best stuff ever!
I tell everyone about this product. It as helped my dogs tremendously! Their fur looks incredible, actually one of my dachshunds is almost 16 years old. When we went to visit a friend that has 3 dachshunds that are all under 10 years old, my boy looked younger than all of them! I have been using this product for almost a year now. I give all 3 of my pups 1/4 teaspoon in their normal food for dinner every night. I get compliments from their vet on their skin and coat every time we visit. 1 or 2 times a week I mix this stuff with coconut oil, put it on a finger toothbrush and brush their teeth. Their teeth were awful before and in just 1 month you could tell a major difference.

Your dog will thank you
Great product! I canโt personally attest to the flavor because I give it to my dogs (with a little water over their kibble at meal time), but they seem to love it. It smells strongly of the sea as one might expect. It has definitely helped my dogsโ breath ...and they are cat poop eaters, so thatโs some intense odor. One of my rescue dogs had crazy bad breath when I adopted him. Now I can kiss his muzzle and not smell a thing. Maybe that sounded weird, but my point is I can be up close to him and not pass out from his bad breath. So that benefit alone is worth the price. I first bought the 1.5 lb bag but moved up to the larger size and religiously give my dogs 1/2 - 1 tsp, depending on their weight, every day. I also give them Nutiva Organic hemp seed oil. Iโve noticed a MAJOR change in my oldest dogโs agility. She was having hip problems: clicking when walking, and trouble sitting/going up stairs. It seemed surgery was in her future. I was terrified and did a LOT of research in hopes of finding some natural approaches to ease her discomfort in the meantime. I came across this sea kelp ...and Nutiva organic hemp seed oil. I am convinced this combo is MUCH better than fish oil for omega 3s & 6s. Plus you donโt have to worry about overprocessing or rancidity the way you have to with fish oil. (My dogs eat a lamb based diet. I've read you need to be careful with the omega balance If you feed them chicken, so please do your own research.) After less than two weeks on these new, natural supplements (full disclosure, my dog was already on Cosequin) I noticed a marked difference in her mobility. It honestly made me weep with joy. She was able to sit comfortably and the scary clicking sound while she was walking stopped completely. That was back in April. She occasionally has her random stiff days, but I can tell she is no longer in pain. She runs freely when she gets the zoomies and can go up and down the stairs or jump on the sofa at will, and join the others on longer walks again. Please consider these supplements if your dog has arthritis or skin conditions...or poopy breath! It works. And itโs so much easier and safer and CHEAPER than surgery. I regularly take my dogs to the vet and sheโs been happily surprised by their progress too.

Kelp is good for Dogs! When administered correctly, don't overdo it.
Purchased this good quality Kelp to add to my German Shepherd Dog's food. Kelp can promote a dog's health when used appropriately as a supplement or ingredient in a diet. It's nutrient-dense and is commonly added to Kibble. It's rich in vitamins (A,B,C,E, and K), minerals iodine, magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium, and zinc. It also acts as a prebiotic with soluble fiber to support beneficial gut bacteria and IMPROVE MICROBIONE balance. Which is one of the most important in my opinion. Healthy gut, health dog. It also brings out my German Shepherd's pigment, making the red darker.

great for cats and dogs, a container lasts a long time
I purchased the $21 (ish) container in October 2025 and I am writing this review in June 2026. I have been using this product daily on 1 cat and one 100 pounds dog, and I still have over 1/4 of a container left. You definitely get your money's worth. I switched to Icelandic kelp from the dental product I was using because I fell down the rabbit hole of iodine in dental powder products. and how it's important to ensure you do not give your pets too much iodine. That's how I discovered Icelandic kelp. both my dog and my cat's breath is neutral. I smell nothing. Not a dog smell, not a cat smell. nothing. that is awesome in my opinion because the only change I've made to the diet is the Icelandic kelp. their teeth look amazing. my cat's teeth are very white but she was young when I started her on this product. my dog's teeth look great. He was closer to either 2 or 4 years of age depending on which paper your work you believe. He was a foundling his age is really a guess. He is, I think 6/8 years old now my 100 lb dog is very reactive and does not want to go to the veterinarian. pretty much any type of work requires sedation. whenever he returns home from any kind of procedure, he's in a K-Hole for days. I would do anything to avoid him having to have a dental procedure. a dental cleaning on my cat in this region, starts at around $850. I don't have that kind of money. that's why I chose go this route. I learned of dental powders through my animals veterinarians. they didn't recommend to this brand but as I wrote, I chose this because I could see the iodine amounts. both of my animals fur has improved tremendously but especially my cats. my cat hardly sheds it all. my dog still has his normal shedding seasons which he currently is in. both of their coats look much better. the cat's fur in particular is extremely soft. Their poops do not really stink which is also a pleasant side effect. but to be honest, I don't know if that's a combination of the kelp and the foods that I feed them. They digest the the Icelandic kelp easily. In fact they love the way it tastes and they notice if there's a day that I skip it. I can tell as well because they leave a little bit of food in their bowl. noticed that my dog is much more energetic and puppy-like than he used to be, which I consider a win. this product is not minty like some of the other dental products are. although I should not call this a dental product because that's not specifically what it's used for. Check out the pics, especially the last one. My dog's teeth look great, especially since they have NEVER been brushed nor professionally cleaned. I took the last photo today out in the sunlight.

Good product
I have a dog with allergies. The vet suggested kelp as a supplement. This seems good quality at a good price. The dog eats it sprinkled on her food without any issues.
