steamy affair
This book was exactly what I was looking for! I’m not sure why I waited so long to read it but I absolutely loved Olivia and David. The push and pull through the entire book had me on edge and I kept wanting more. I couldn’t put this down and I can’t wait to read the next.

beautifully written
I read this book because it was recommended to me on TikTok. I probably wouldn’t have picked it up on my own as cheating is a hard limit for me. But the person who recommended it told me that it was worth the risk of not liking the storyline. She was right. There is nothing trite about what happens in this book. It is full of angst, a rollercoaster of emotions and so beautifully written that I encourage others to take a leap like I did. It is so worth reading

Captivating
One of the best erotica/ romance books I’ve read in a while! Now on to the next to see what happens :)

Passionate, sexy, and heartbreaking!
Oh, what tangled webs we weave…I’m not usually one to enjoy stories about extramarital affairs, but I was intrigued enough to give this one a try. I’m glad that I did, because even though the basic plot bothered me at it’s core, I found myself engrossed in Olivia and David’s torment. It started out on the slow side, and to be honest I found Bill incredibly boring, but then I think that made Olivia’s predicament much more prominent. She was quite simply less exciting and less interesting with Bill, and when David came into the picture she suddenly had more dimension.Lawyer Bill was Olivia’s “safe” choice in a husband. She wanted security and someone who wouldn’t hurt her, and she got it. But at what cost? They were like a boring old married couple after just 3 years together. She had what seemed like the perfect life on the outside- many close friends, a husband who adored her, and a career that was going places. But when David blew into her life, everything that was wrong became painfully clear. Her friends didn’t REALLY know her because they didn’t know how to see the real her…David did in a matter of a few interactions. Bill adored her but didn’t know her well enough to care what truly made her happy or how to give it to her…David did it with little effort. Now, there was never a point where I was okay with Olivia breaking her marriage vows to be with David, but Jessica Hawkins definitely succeeded in making me wish Olivia would choose a better life for herself, because she just wasn’t really living. Everything in her life was so stagnant and routine that you can’t help but wish the captivating and intriguing David would reach in and shake it all up!Olivia and David had that instant connection, like a spark between soul mates that meet for the first time. She FELT him when he came into room, like her very soul knew it’s other half was nearby. She didn’t buy into it being anything more than attraction at first, and I applauded her for questioning the decision to leave a marriage and life behind just for sex. I think deep down she knew it was more, though, and David was so torn between proving it to her and respecting her wishes to remain plutonic. They hurt each other in the process, but it was such an enticing game of cat and mouse!!I have to say, what really sold me on David was his reaction to Olivia being in danger when an old case of Bill’s came back to haunt them. He showed the depth of his feelings for her when even her own husband seemed relatively unaffected, and it made me wish things weren’t so incredibly complicated for them. I won’t tell just how far things do end up going between these two, but I will say that the chemistry between them is fabulous and I was surprised how much I wanted more!!I ended up really enjoying this story despite the slower pacing, and some of the chapters were really hard to pull myself away from! Be warned, a major cliffhanger will leave you itching to grab up the sequel Come Alive, which I fully intend to do very soon!!Quotes:In this setting, between the jazz and the wine, I wondered how pure his intentions were in asking me to meet him. The dimly lit club was sensual and private, ideal for clandestine encounters. ~ Olivia, Loc 760I had begun to crumble under David’s command, and I couldn’t help but feel like one of his projects. Was the deconstruction of my very being intentional? ~Olivia, Loc 1856“You’re always saying everything is fine, even though it’s not…Does anyone care enough to question whether or not you are fine? ~David, Loc 3049
