Jesus Christ Superstar 50th Anniversary

I was fortunate enough to see the stage production twice just after it went on the road. There is no bad part got it wrong. This indeed was a controversial subject but the music did not turn out to be so. I've played my original LPs until they wore out and I look forward to doing the same with these CDs. There was an updated version of this rock opera made in the nineties but it came nowhere near comparing with this one. This one was in every hippies collection. It helped define the times.

This is the original recording of Jesus Christ Superstar. It was the very first one we heard in a concert before it became a staged event.

A terrific album, Jesus Christ Superstar follow Tommy as an early “rock opera”. This deluxe set gets lots,of things right but also some things wrong. The original album is nicely remastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road. I have no idea if the multi-tracks exist any longer but, if so, they deserve a remix and a 5.1 or Atmos remix. If they don’t, it would be nice to see the AI tech used by Peter Jackson’s crew to de-mix this and remix it both for stereo and multichannel. Putting it on a blu-ray would be nice as well.The third disc is nice to have but amounts to little more than a curiosity. The chance to combine this with the original film soundtrack which also has different performances. It would be nice to get that with some TLC. Finally, a Blu-ray or 4 K of the film as an additional bonus would be great. I realize the soundtrack is separated by years but they really do belong together.The book is nice to have as well. While I’m happy to have this, I would love a Super deluxe with everything related to JCS.

This one has needed an upgrade for a while, and this new set does not disappoint. The best-sounding version ever comes with a disc of outtakes and a splendid book. If you ever liked this album before, this is now the definitive version. Well done!

I was very excited to learn about this remastered version of this great opera. However, when I ripped the album to my hard drive it appeared that the track listing was incorrect. (My fault for not confirming this before I ripped it.) Disc 1 tracks are labeled correctly up to track 5, then are incorrect for the rest of the disc. (Disc 2 is fine.) I don't know why nobody has mentioned this; it's not a fluke because this is my second try, having returned the first one I bought thinking it was just defective.This would have been a five-star review (the remaster is phenomenal and the included book and bonus disc are both great), but such a stupid mistake as mislabeling the tracks is baffling.

I thought there would be pictures of the cast and performances in London. All there was were pictures about the two guys. My aunt performed in this and I would have LOVEd to see pictures of her as well.

I wasn't paying attention, and was surprised when a beautiful slipcase of around vinyl size arrived. Music is gorgeous, of course, but the set won't store with the rest of the CD collection. Just in case consistent storage size is an issue for some.

Beautiful package for an extraordinary album. Great book, some good outtakes and the awesome beginnings of Lloyd and Weber. When you think about classic moments in rock this piece of music has to be among the best, highly recommended!!

A nice sturdy package with outer box and hard format book containing the 2 remastered CDs in front and the "oddities" CD in back. Interviews/quotes in the book as well as lots of vintage photos/ record sleeves/ and text featuring recording trivia. Also has text with an open end interview that can read while the third CD contains the actual open end interview in audio form which is cool. The music sounds amazing and nicely remastered. There are no real outtakes, but a lot of guide vocals/scat vocals and a couple of unreleased ditties. If you enjoy this album, you will not be disappointed. A very cool set ! Well done!

Una riedizione strepitosa con un gran bel remaster, considerando che parliamo di un'incisione del 1970.Meraviglioso il book da 100 pagine.Assolutamente imperdibile per chi ha amato questa opera rock e il film che venne prodotto nel 1973 con altri interpreti.

I first listened to Jesus Christ Superstar when it was part of Religious Studies at school. Then seeing it in the West End on a school trip. It has always been a favourite of mine since then. This Remaster takes it to another level in sound quality. With Stunning orchestration and the brilliant vocal Cast including the best Jesus, Ian Gillan. and Judas, Murray Head. With Barry Dennen and Yvonne Elliman makes this the Classic it is. I've never heard it so good! Well worth re buying. Thank You to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber & Sir Tim Rice and all involved in this 50th Anniversary release.On a foot note please can we have the same remastering treatment for the 1973 Film Soundtrack? As the original remaster is very poor indeed.

Of the numerous re-releases throughout the years of this classic soundtrack edition of JCS, this particular 50th Anniversary release features a clarity of ambiance to the recorded music, never heard before!The tinny sound is gone as a result of this new remastering, replaced by so much more depth to the vocals as well as the overall music. Which makes listening to it so much more enjoyable.I am happy that they finally got the right engineer to remaster this soundtrack.Now all I can do is wait for a hopeful "5.1 Surround sound mix" of this brilliant recording!
