Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mahabharata [Paperback] [Jan 01, 2010] C.Rajagopalachari

This is an easy to read and understand Mahabharat. It cuts the clutter and just describes the facts in a story like book. Loved this version.

This is the best translation I have read..

The Mahabharata tells the story of the two main noble families of Pandavas and Kauravas. The Kauravas exiled the Pandava family by various means, to ensure that this family would gain access to the throne. Eventually the Kurukshetra war was engendered by the Kauravas to ensure they were the ones in power, however, they didn't win in the end. The story is too complex to describe more accurately, but it really happened a long time ago, and is well worth reading. There is still a place called Kurukshetra in the north west of India, proving its existence, and India used to be called Bharat.

Lovely author also writes The Ramayana which was my introduction to C.Rajagopalachari.
