Can the light be turned off while the fan is on?

There is a large light around the outlet holes that can be turned off. BUT the power light cannot be turned off and it is a very bright LED. Too bright for bedroom use even as a nightlight.

How is the air output ?

I'm using this fan right now, as a matter of fact. I have it on its lowest setting of 3 outputs, and it is perfect for me, sitting on my desk about 1.5 feet away from me. I have not yet used it during summer or on a very hot day, but I can say that the air output is good, and it's nice to also use by my bed because it's quiet - just some "white noise." The gentle light it emits is also very nice.

would this work next to an ash tray to blow smoke away?
