King Rocket stove

I really like this little stove. I use it very often outside my front porch. I got the King-sized version and very happy I got the largest version. I like that it only requires a few twigs and wood pieces to get started. You can use dry twigs, branches, trunks, or even traditional firewood, which you may have to split with a hand axe, to make them thinner. Another tip is to coat your wood with kerosene for a faster start and a longer sustained burn. If you use the wood chute, the wood burns quickly and hot, so you will need to tend to it often by pushing the wood further into the chute. If you want less tending and longer burn times, a tip is to stuff wood in the vertical pipe area. I have poured handfulls of charcoal, and lump coal, into the vertical chute, while the stove is already burning, and that charcoal maintains radiant heat well, although its not as hot of a flame for cooking as compared to wood sticks. It's a pleasure to cook on and will cook an entrée or you can boil water. I have used black cast iron, enameled cast iron, and a 16 inch metal wok. Use a hammer or mallet to hammer down the pot support flanges so they don't shift so easily and are more stable for cooking heavier pots.

You ain’t going hiking with this beast but it serves its purpose when you are car camping or trying to stay warm on the back porch because you can’t smoke in the house🤬. Regardless, the damper is a bonus, it’s very solidly built, it does what a rocket stove is supposed to do, and you can bash a zombie over the head if you need to. My only minor complaint is the handle design. If they rounded it so the handle could fit over the pot holders without removing the pot holders that would be awesome….but that’s petty. 👍 5 star.

I was intrigued with the setup on this one, with the additional air intake separated from the wood feed. The theory made sense to me. I'd done a cinderblock version that worked, but really needed the air intake to land just right to feed it. After the first burn, I'm impressed with what it did with very limited amount of wood. Twigs..fallen scrap. The stuff that ruins your lawn mower blades. Worked like a charm. Like others, it took me a hot minute to get it started from the top with the bottom damper wide open, but once started, you got the full "rocket" sound. One of the "ears" doesn't fit quite snugly, but it didn't cause any destabilization of a large cast iron pan that would rest on it. I'm planning to use it as almost a "side burner" in the outdoor kitchen...and as long as you can keep up with it, it should perform very well. I appreciate the effort to "raise" it with the threaded extensions. They are perfect if you're sitting in a lawn chair babysitting it. If you want to actually use it "in line" with an outdoor cooking setup, plan for a couple cinder blocks. Overall impressed. I'd love another 9-12" on the infeed and stack, but it works almost exactly as I would have expected. Well done as an outdoor extension to a grill setup. Already looking forward to a science experiment with the kids chasing fallen sticks to feed it.

This is a HEAVY duty stove so not so good for hiking. Great for camping though. Just drop some dry wood in the feed tube, light it and it burns hot. So hot the handles will burn you if you try to move it so be care and set it up where you know you can leave it until it cools down…. Very happy with my purchase!!!!

I bought two of these stoves after watching my neighbor boil water in a camping kettle in under 5 minutes using nothing but a handful of small stems and one small pine cone from his lawn. Impressive. I also bought a set of heavy cast iron cookware to use with these stoves as well as a small metal foldable oven for baking. The legs add a good bit of space between the ground and the cooking grate which is much safer than being on the ground, plus, you can adjust them for uneven surfaces. It feel nice and sturdy and I’ve gotten the fire so hot it glows red. Each time after cool down I inspect to see if there is damage but so far there had been none. One thing that I might suggest is to condition all iron surfaces with Crisco or an equivalent cooking grease. It will prevent any rust during storage.

Works well. On a test run the grill got to 500 degrees. Is easy to adapt to old bbqs and you can grill. Add a heat deflector a little above the chimney and you can smoke. Been using mulberry for my wood and everything has been delicious. The only improvement it needs is a longer wood box so I can place bigger sticks in it.

Not as good as it sounds, make sure the firewood is split in small enough pieces that you can feed it otherwise it wont get hot enough. Also the pieces that hold the pan get in the way of the carrying handel so it's hard to move if you need to while it's hot. Mine came with the tongs completely mashed flat in the middle so the were pretty much useless.

Thought these stoves would be great for cook ups on the trails but it actually needs a lot of attention and very dry wood to work. You are constantly feeding this stove wood and adjusting draft to get any flame. The pics above were the best I got out of the stove and took way too much effort. Great idea but maybe a bigger stove would work better

Poor build quality: Weld slag and dirt in threads for the legs. Brackets for cooking pot on the top are a poor fit and smaller pots want to slip over when placed on top
