They work! I had a problem with squirrels getting on my roof, so I installed one on the front part of the roof and one on the back part. The squirrels must think they are real, especially since the head moves when the wind blows, because they no longer get on my roof. You will need to fill the inside with rocks to weigh them down so that heavy winds will not blow them over. I am pleased with this product and the price. I would highly recommend these owls to anyone who needs to scare away pesky and destructive wildlife in a humane manner. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very realistic looking with swivel head *by on Reviewed in the United States October 6, 2021* I was really impressed with these two fake owls that I bought to scare European starlings from taking roost in and around my barn. They are lightweight and there is a plug on the bottom that you open up and fill with sand or gravel. I tried water (as I didn't have any sand) but quickly learned that they are not water tight. So, I filled them with gravel from my driveway. Inside the owl comes a clear plastic piece that you remove and put onto the back of the owl's head -- this is basically a sail that catches the wind, allowing the head to swivel very realistically. I placed on of the owls on a fencepost outside my barn, and the other inside to scare the heck out of these pooping starlings, and so far, they seem to be doing the job. The one on the outside, I needed to fasten to the fence post to keep it from blowing over. This is perhaps one thing I would suggest could be improved about the owl -- which would be to make it easier or more secure to mount the owl.
