Can this thermostat be remotely controlled from an iPhone?

Yes. I am using an iPhone 4S and 5s and iPad to control the thermostat.

what is the battery type?

You need a C wire. There is a small backup battery used for the clock, but this will not power the thermostat. In the event of a power outage, the thermostat will turn off.

Clock is an hour and a half fast, but update thru internet time. Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue. Indiana a few years ago finally joined daylight saving time, and if you're in Arizona which does not observe DST, I wonder if Honeywell does not have the time zones correct (but hard to explain the extra half hour issue you have). I haven't been able to change the clock, and having the clock 1 hour wrong causes all my cycle times to happen at the wrong time until DST ends.

Does this unit have a change filter alarm?

It has a Filter count-down, but the unit doesn't do anything special when the counter reaches '0'. I have to check the Filter status (from the screen on the unit) to see how many days are left in the countdown. I can set the number of days the filter counter resets to, 60, 90, etc.
