Excellent book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in living a healthier life. The book is full of practical advice for people who are just starting out on the journey to a healthier way of living, and those who now think it's time to stop exercising and retire to the rocking chair.

A Summary of Everything You May Have Heard
Amby writes in an engaging, relaxed style as if you, the reader, are sitting down for coffee and asked him for some running tips. However, he also backs up his advice with reference to research as well as much anecdotal evidence. Reading this book is like having all the bits and pieces of advice and training plans scattered around the internet pulled together and curated. After reading “Run Forever”, I finally feel that I get how to train progressively, effectively, but most importantly, safely and for a long time.

Like a Conversational Run with Amby Himself
This is a book filled with simple and practical running advice that is never preachy. There is no, “buy this,” or “use that” to reach Nirvana on the road or track.Page after page, I got the feeling Amby just wants others to enjoy both a lifestyle and a lifeTIME of running.Wise advice about how to run farther, faster, and safer is found in every well organized chapter. In areas where the author is not an expert, he happily trots out a personal friend who is.The biggest and best point of this conversationally written gem is this: accept your fitness limitations as you age, make adjustments, and keep enjoying the journey.Amby admits, in his early 70’s he’s now twice as slow as he was in his prime. Yet, he happily keeps going—seemingly without shame or regret. As a guy who started running at 48, this is an inspiration.A must read for masters runners like me, but a word to the wise for anyone who wants running to be a journey and not just a destination.

A book to live by.
I had never heard the name of Amby Burfoot. But an FB post caught my attention and I decided to get a Kindle version of the book and read and I finished the book in less than a day.An engaging read from start to finish, it gives simple but time tested suggestions on all aspects of running. The best part is that you are encouraged to keep running throughout your life.

An excellent primer.
This is a gem. I am no runner but have dabbled with lone runs on and off over the years and this came along as I was starting walk/runs with a few high intensity runs thrown in. I have read more than achieved in the past and there were references to previous good ideas, valuable words of warning, and some great observations on walk/runs and getting started using the 10% technique. The reference to the American military DIME 9 exercise warm up routine for injury prevention has encouraged me to change my exercise warm up routine. As the author mentioned it might be too soon to assess the injury prevention part but it does improve running times and is low impact compared to some routines.

No-fluff approach to running that is relevant for runners of any age
This book is a distillation of years of running experience. Amby Burfoot shows what is important and what is not in simple, but not simplistic, terms. I can see that this book will improve my running already.Highly recommend.
