DEWALT DW891 14 Gauge Swivel Head Shear

This is a great tool, although I haven't used it much as of yet but, would definitely do when I get back home in 2 months.I chose this tool compared to others due to its reputation with power tools. I always set some allowance from its maximum capacity to give it a longer life span. My main intention is to use this on a 16 - 18 ga which would make it very handy.My deepest concern when purchasing this item is that, it was advertised to have a 220volts avialable, however there is no option in the site to select the voltage i wanted. I have contacted Amazon and they forwarded me to the DEWALT which was also unable to help with the product and later forwarded me to another website which offers the required voltage. That would be very cumbersome as I have to do another long registration and payment verification on the site, which i do not wish to do just for one single item.Perhaps a suggestion to amazon on having an extra option similar to what I mentioned above.

I can't really write a review concerning these shears but in our work we use shears alot when metal framing in office T.I. work on schools where we can't use the chop saws because of noise,in the past we used the 18ga.shears these i hope will allow us to cut the heavier ga. materials as well.I have noticed in reading people talking about how the shears don't cut that well word of advise metal shears are like knowing how to dance (you just don't pull the trigger and they cut like sissors) you change height up and down to obtain the best speed and cut after awhile it becomes second nature.Just saying!I will will come back and revisit this review after we have actually used these shears to give true review of this product.Ken

I read online that these electric shears will cut laminate. I don't have a lot of space in my garage, so cutting 4'x8' laminate sheets is very hard to do on a portable table saw or even with a circular saw. So I purchased these shears and could not be more happy! It zips through the cutting of the laminate like paper with no cracks or fractures. It makes a very clean cut. I also used it on 14 gauge metal grills as well as metal laminate. Zipped through them all! The only drawback is that it does not come in a plastic case like the rest of my Dewalt tool collection. Other than that, Dewalt always makes a great product. I highly recommend this product!

not quite as I expected it. It was not as durable as I was hoping. Used it to cut 16ga. metal and the screw support broke after several uses.

It zips through 16 gauge material. I like it; it leaves a nice clean edge. The only problem is that the curl of metal from the cut tends to jam against the machine head; I have to stop the cut and bend the end of the curl out of the way and then re-start the cut. They could have eliminated this with a slightly different shaped center blade.

Great for straight cuts in heavy gage metals.

Used it on 16ga mild steel and the shear cut it quite well. It is important to keep the cutter at the correct angle to the material for best performance. This is somewhat critical but probably typical of this type of machine.

This item arrived on time and as advertised. Packed well in it's shipping box and boxed along with other items I ordered to was very well packed. The shears work perfectly and the adjustable swivel head is GREAT!

There is a bit of a learning curve to get the tool to cut over the ribs but once you learn to let the tool do the work it becomes easy.

works great on the straight stretches, but not so great if you doing corrugated metal... slightly easier than doing it by hand but pretty expensive for something that isn't 'awesome"
