My Book of Kells Colouring Book

As an adult I didn't need need the extra information about how parchment was prepared and monks in the scriptorium, but that is only a small part of the book. The drawings are enough to keep any crayon-wielding adult engrossed for a long time. There a lot of detailed outline drawlings. I have one difficulty - with the coloured pencils that I use (Faber Castell polychronomos) I find it difficult to colour a large area smoothly - it always looks blotchy. That must be due simply to the combination of my particular pencils with the paper, but the paper in itself feels to be good quality.

When teaching Illuminated Manuscript art, this is a great way to help kids/teens understand the interlacing of the time. Its a must have for all art history and art rooms.

Very good book. Once you have it, make copies or even better, scan its pages so you can have endless blank printouts for your students, friends, children to color them, as once you start colouring it you will have no more.

If you are looking for a highly detailed drawing of the Chi Rho Iota page from the book of Kells then ignore this book. That page as well as others that are supposed to be representative of images from the book of Kells are not fully detailed. The Chi part of the drawing is lacking all of the Celtic knot work that is inside of that letter on the original folio of the book. That is only part of the problem as much of the knot work is also missing in the areas around the letters. If yo want those images for a project such as a label for a custom CD or DVD cover then forget it with these pages as they are almost useless for that since they greatly lack the necessary detail that will be needed for that.
