I actually like this Straightener because it is really simple, gets the job done, and it is an affordable price. I have thin hair so it doesn't take much heat or repeatition to get the job done. However, my daughter that has extremely thick hair this Straightener works perfectly on her hair also on the higher heat setting and one piece doesn't have to be done over and over again like most cheap straighteners. It does make beautiful curls also. It is extremely simple, perfect for a starter Straightener, if there is such a thing. IT has a power button and then two temperature control buttons with a digital display, seriously fool proof! It does only have one floating plate, and does have a tiny gap in it like another review states but honestly it didn't make a difference when using it and I didn't even notice it until I read that review. It doesn't snag my or my daughters' hair when using and I find it to glide smoothly. Of course if you don't have a steady hand and don't glide it at the same speed down the length of the piece of hair you are straightening you can get creases, but that has been my experience with every Straightener I have used. Overall, very user friendly. The only downfall for me was the smell when I used it the first few times. I have seen others have mentioned it also. It smells like burning plastic and it did linger in my makeup room for a few hours after I turned it off the first time I used it. I had to go check an hour later and make sure I had turned it off because the smell was still pretty strong (but the door was closed) (Also I do think it has auto turn off just in case you are wondering) However, after I used it for a couple of weeks one day I realized "wow, it doesn't have that burning smell anymore." So not too sure how long it takes to subside, but it does go away. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a simple, affordable Straightener. As for those who are worried about double floating plates that are perfectly even and clamp down on hair at the exact same time that has nothing to do with the outcome for $15, perhaps you are expecting too much out of a straightener.

My daughter had one of these and I used it and loved it. Ordered one for myself and it is the best flat iron I've ever used. All the other ones make this ripping sound when at the end of my hair. This one does not do that and my ends look so much better after using this one, with noticeably less damage. Highly recommended.

Apenas me llegó y tuve que probarla inmediatamente, por lo que tengo varios puntos importantes a destacar: • Precio: No quiero hablar de la calidad aún pero al hablar del precio es inevitable hablar de la calidad. La relación calidad precio es excelente (pues la adquirí en oferta) y en base a mi experiencia creo que pagas y recibes más de lo que puedas esperar. • Calidad: Ahora sí quiero tocar un punto importante. El material de la plancha en un principio me hizo dudar de su originalidad, pues es un plástico que para ser sinceros se siente de baja calidad, los botones están perfectos y la placa es excelente. El cable giratorio lo hace más fácil. El otro punto que quería tocar era que las placas a la hora de juntarlas para planchar deja un ligero espacio de 1 milímetro casi nada, pero tienes que agarrar un mechón grueso para sentir que de plancha el pelo. Este detalle lo leí también en otro comentario. • Funcionalidad: Tienes que aprender a usarla. Y sí, hablo de manera en que te resulte más práctica aprender a usarla, pues en mi caso no soy una experta en planchado, pero para ser sinceros se me dificulto un poco porque siempre he usado planchas delgadas, por lo que con esta si tuve un poco de problema al principio pero tuve que adaptarme después. • Es sencilla y fácil de usar, se siente muy ligera a mi parecer. • Temperatura: Los 310° plancha perfecto el cabello, claro en mi caso, pero cabe resaltar que aunque mi pelo se esponja mucho sigue siendo pelo muy fino/delgado por lo que no me cuesta mucho plancharlo, y con esto llegó al siguiente y último punto y a mi parecer mi favorito: • La tecnología antiestática: realmente funciona. es que que puedo decir, es maravilloso que a la hora de planchar el pelo los pelos no se alboroten a la hora de soltar el mechón de la plancha, cosa de la que siempre he sufrido y que ahora gracias a esta plancha es un problema que se acabó. En resumen aunque no sea la mejor plancha del mercado (tengo que ser realista) no me dejó con la boca abierta pero quiero pensar que es por en mi inexperiencia en el uso y correcto manejo de planchas, además creo que hay que tomar el truco y toda plancha tiene su truco, es simple hábito de prender a usarla. Sin embargo pese a mi poca habilidad he logrado el planchado perfecto, y sin frizz, es una plancha excelente, y claro que la recomiendo, pues creo que con el tiempo de aprender a adaptarme a su grosor se pueden lograr grandes cosas. 9/10 ;)

Bought this Remington 1" Anti-Static Flat Iron with Floating Ceramic Plates and Digital Controls, Hair Straightener, Purple, S5500 for $29.99 and free delivery. Was just looking for an affordable but efficient straightener to get me by as I forgot to pack one. However this specific straightener blew my mind as it out preformed all of my high end, ridiculously expensive brand name straighteners (that range in price from around $250-$600) in every single way possible! For context I have long, thinning, baby fine hair and purchased this for myself. To say I wasn’t expecting much would be a huge understatement…Wowza was wrong! This Remington 1” straightener offers an LCD screen so you can have the precise heat temperature you need, comes to temperature in 30-60 seconds and holds it, has a button that needs to be held down for a few seconds before powering on and off, you can “lock in” the temperature you need so that you can’t accidentally turn it way up or down, does not rip out any hair, has a clasp to close the two plates together for easy storage, has a 360 swivel cord with decent length, straightens my hair faster, easier and better than any other I’ve tried and leaves the hair looking soft and with a healthy shine. It does cool fairly quick but please make sure it’s completely cool before putting it away or on any surface that can easily burn and keep it far out of reach from wee kids. Grabbed my Mommy’s hot curling iron when I was a wee girl because I wanted to be a big girl and do my own hair. Absolutely knew that I was never allowed to touch Moms curling iron but felt that I knew how to use the curling iron and would not get hurt…Ended up burning/singeing off a good section of hair and burning the side of my face pretty badly. Luckily my parents got me to the hospital straight away, had an amazing doctor who treated the burn and showed my parents how to use the medications at home and by the time i entered high school the skin had healed so well you’d never know I was burned. The worst part was that the section of hair burned off was pretty close to the scalp so I had to walk around with the worlds most bizarre, odd and ridiculous hair until it finally grew long enough to match the regular hair length. Lol. Good thing I don’t have a single memory of the incident or treatments or becoming a walking embarrassment. Only the memories of my Mom and Grandma telling me all about it. As the plates are only one inch, I was concerned about how long it would take to straighten my entire head. But the smaller plates (small sections) are far more efficient and easier to use. Can straighten and style my hair for work in around 10 minutes at the absolute most from the time it’s plugged in. Much better than the previous 20-30 minutes just to straighten my hair like with other straighteners! But the best way to prove how amazing this wee hot hair tool is…my two teenage daughters (19 & 17) prefer it over their own beloved (ride or die) straighteners that they’ve since parted ways with and absolutely love every single aspect of it. Each asked if I would get them one at the end of the last school year as a reward for excellent grades. My daughters also use this product as a curling iron and waver. They easily create any size curl and any amount of tightness. The sides of the plates are rounded so it curls quickly and easily without getting hair stuck slightly under a plate accidentally and having it painfully ripped out. Used as a straightener or curler the style you created holds and lasts while keeping frizz away and creating the appearance of healthy hair people want to run their fingers through! I’ve been trying to think of a con for this straightener but there truly isn’t one. The best I can come up with is that it did not come with a heat glove or carrying sack or small silicone mat that functions as safe place to rest the hot tool onto and also wraps between and around the two plate heads to protect it and as a carrying bag. But in all honesty none of that was advertised or stated saying it came with additions or free gift kinda a thing. This tool is so good and priced so incredibly well that Remington doesn’t need the typically subpar additions or gifts to convince someone to buy this product. The enticing extras aren’t needed to trick your mind. Also the colour isn’t my favourite and I’m not sure if it’s available in different colours to be honest. But when it comes down to I really don’t care what colour this straightener is as it’s how it works that really matters! Very highly recommend this straightener!! But don’t sleep on it as who knows how long it will stay at this awesome price! I always leave honest and fair reviews about my purchases, so I waited a few months before writing this. With three people using it very regularly not one single issue has come up and it works like a dream! Hopefully this information and personal opinion review helps you with the decision.
