Nice to browse before a trip
A nicely presented book and fun to read before a trip. Doesn’t replace the usual (indispensable) Lonely Planet for practicalities though.

Good value and a good read.
A good introduction to Japan, but perhaps some previous knowledge of the country would be required, before using the guide, as there is a lot in this little book. Nicely illustrated and written, and inspiring. Not enough detail, on its own, for a first time visitor, so use it together with another guide. This is more to inspire, rather than give full detailed information.

Great travel guide, a bit different
I purchased this and another travel guide for a birthday gift, as the friend was visiting Japan. This guide offers something a little bit different, as it covers where to eat/ restaurant guide.

It had all of the places we were going to and lots of good advice and interesting places to visit. small enough to take away on holiday.

Full of useful info great pics and excellent detail. There could have been more info on how to pronounce Japanese words with phonetic descriptions.

I found it a waste of money
The book provided very limited information about a limited number of places. It was a big disappointment

Nice to read, informative, better than the regular Lonely Planet book
I find the usual Lonely Planet guides overwhelming - too much information cluttered onto each page. This book is lovely. Easy to read, nicer pages, lots of info. There is also a pull out map that is A3 sized. If you need specific info on hotels etc, you'll still want the usual Lonely Planet book to compliment this one.
