Great range of colors with a really happy surprise
I bought this set as a way to experiment with water soluble oil pastels. I did not expect much more than the usual Far East collection of more or less mediocre product. Imagine my surprise when, opening the box for the first time, i found that my box contained Mungyo brand and labeled soft Gallery water soluble pastels. I am guessing that these pastels are rebadged Mungyos. Mungyo is a well-regarded pastel maker offering superior Products at very reasonable prices. As a result, my Little experiment in water soluble oil pastels turned into a joy. They are really good.

Love these pastels!!
I have different sets of oil pastels. I even made a whole bunch myself. This is the first time I have bought water-soluble oil pastels. I am certainly not a professional artist, and watercolor has been a hard craft to master. These crayons are wonderful! But, first, yes there was crayon with a broken tip, another one broke off about an inch when I was using it. Personally I have no problem with this, as most pastels end up in pieces anyway. Even the shavings can be used. These pastels are soft. They dissolve beautifully when you brush water over them. I am quite taken with them. I am waiting on another brand as well, and this was kind of my back-up choice. It was a very good choice. Yes. I love these crayons!

Good, not great
Compared to the Portfolios, these have brighter colors which is wonderful. But they are not as creamy and don't blend as well when wet.

Fun art supply!
These are a lot of fun to play with. They blend well with water so I use them for portions of watercolor painting where I want a little more opaque color in spots but yet I can blend it in with the existing painting. It's also fun to do a regular oil pastel painting and then blend it with a brush afterwards.

Nice.
They go down and spread just like you'd expect. Activation is consistent between colors. I think it's great, especially at the price. A talented person could make something beautiful with these. (Me? No. Ill just try again.) The surprise here was the color selection. You could work from a split primary, but there's plenty of varied earth tones and skin shades too. I'm not a pastel artist, but without water blending these convenience greens seem important. I would trade a beige for a truer yellow ochre and a purple for a warmer blue. There's like five blues and they're all nice, but I want my basic bitc ultramarine sometimes, but that might be a watercolor habit that doesn't matter to you if you want to use and blend dry.

23/24 poor quality pastels, not worth it!
My box had only one pastel that spread smoothly. I would have thought they were just supposed to be chalky and not blendable except one glorious pastel was exactly right - smooth, buttery, a pleasure to work with. The rest of them unfortunately had bright colors but were about as blendable as an offbrand crayon. I tried to contact the seller for assistance but couldn't find any way to do so on this page. HA SHI, please let me know if you can help!

Would recommend they are wonderful
They work just like oil pastels and watercolor paint. They are soft and the colors are bright. When used as watercolor it will act as a watercolor leaving no dark splotch where the oil pastel was originally drawn. Iv watched youtube reviews and found these were liked more than the name brand ones. I decided to buy these before I seen the price so that was a nice bonus
