Who You Were Meant to Be: A Guide to Finding or Recovering Your Life's Purpose

This book was really hard for me to go through, especially the first few chapters. The thought in my head was, "why is she pushing all of this selfishness?". In my mind, such selfishness was akin to greed and narcissism. But I still pushed through. Chapter 4 was the pinnacle of my disapproval and thought I would stop there, but I didn't and I was glad I did.It took me 7 months to complete this book, but I now understand how much my ego and upbringing has limited me in finding my purpose. I'd like to say that now I'm ready and I've found my calling, but in chapter 11, you'll realise how much work is required.I accept that it's a journey, I just wished that it was a short one.I'll have to re-read this book again I'm sure, just to remind myself of what I must do. For a book that 14 years old, the material is still very relevant and I highly recommend it.

I'm 3/4 through the book and quite like it. I appreciate the insightful commentary on trying to unblock my mind. I'm 52 but the book seems to be written for younger people. There is one oddity with the Kindle version. The letters "tl" have been replaced with "d". Some punctuation is also missing.

Getting in touch with your Life's Purpose is getting in touch with your Soul and what it has planned for you in this lifetime. What I love about this book is the maps.The maps to success as she calls them actually apply to success at anything. Whether you want to successfully complete a PHD degree, or finish high school, or learn to get along with your mother, or start your own business- these maps will help you to predict when you will have resistance from your ego-with old messages from the past. Your ego will try to sidetrack you by keeping the status quo as unsatisfying as it already is.Lindsay Gibson PSYD has written an awesome book to guide you through change of any sort!Thank You Lindsay Gibson PSYD!

In the first ten pages of this book, I learned more than any other self-help book I've ever read. The author spoke right to me.

Initially, I purchased this book for cheap thinking that it would be a book worth skimming through. I was wrong - I read the entire book cover-to-cover! I was (and still am) having trouble deciding whether graduate school was for me and if my chosen career was a mistake. After reading through many of the sections, I realized how my fears were holding me back and keeping me from following my dreams.I would recommend this book to people seeking guidance in their life, especially if they are deciding whether or not they have chosen the right path. If you are honestly evaluating your choices and change in career, this book will help you. It provides many aspects for which you can analyze your hesitations toward a certain avenue, whether or not your fears are rational or unfounded.

The premises behind the content of this book is good, however it is SORELY in need of professional editing/proofreading. It is RIDDLED with misspelled typos in just in the first few chapters.

One of the best self-help books I have ever read. Goes beyong self-help to get at the core issues. I was able to make huge changes in my life thanks to this book.
