Makes great pickles
Yumm Yummm! This Alum Powder makes the best pickles! It arrived just in time for my pickle making and I really needed it as the stores in my town are without Alum! This Alum comes in a 500G foil lined pouch. It is excellent quality. I even had enough to share with a friend for her pickles! If it wasn’t for this product we wouldn’t of had pickles this year! So don’t take a chance on the store having Alum, better order now for future use. This is excellent quality and there is enough for a lot of years! If you’re looking for Alum I would highly recommend.

Finally, I have crispy pickles! Love this stuff.
I love bread and butter pickles made with zucchini and yellow squash, but they have always been limp and soggy. Now, they are perfectly crisp and yummy!Excellent! So happy to have found the alum powder solution.Between the Sous Vide and a little alum powder, canning pickles has become easy. It now takes less than an hour to make several jars instead of the all-day production my great grandmother routinely faced. I just wish I knew how to make her dill pickles. Her recipe was perfect. So, grab your Mason jars and let the pickling begin.

Works Great For Cold Sores And Weeping Wounds
First off, for the person who wondered if this is the same thing (has 2 photos complaining that this one isn't a fine powder), it DOES say this is a COARSE grind in the listing. So if you want a super-fine product, this may not be for you.For my needs, it's fine. I use it neat on cold sores to dry them up and as a wash on wounds...it's great for stopping bleeding and helping to dry up weeping wounds when used dry (tho it DOES sting).I may expand to using this to make my own deodorant at well as I usually purchase deodorants with this ingredient. Either way, this will last me awhile and I'm quite pleased with it.

I found a feather inside... wasn't planning on using for food so if you don't then it's fine
The media could not be loaded. I personally wouldn't recommend using this with food. When I opened it up for the 1st time and left inside I saw a feather inside kind of tucked under some of the granules. I took a picture - it's in the photos. It's not a big feather but all the same I would not want to eat something that had a feather in it. It makes me curious how it got there and how truly food grade this is?I got this in order to make playdough. My mom always made playdough using album growing up. And this product really does make the same quality that my mom's always was. So we have been happy with that as far as playdough making goes. It is a far better price to buy it in bolt than for those little tiny containers you get at a grocery store. My final thoughts are that if you're planning on using this for things like Plato and aftershave and fabric mordant I think it'll be great but I wouldn't recommend it for eating.

This is not pure alum and is not as described.
This is falsely advertised as pure potassium alum. I grow crystals using potassium alum and chromium alum. On the right is a true mixture of the pure chemicals. It comes out as a clear solution when working with a pure chemical. This “alum” did not run clear, rather it became milky. I’m not sure what this really is but it will be going in the trash. Be careful prior to buying as the seller does not allow returns (likely because they know they sell a bogus product). It’s on me for not going with my usual source.

Large bag of alum powder
I ordered this large bag of alum powder to try pickling this fall .. and didn't find the time yet. I also was hoping to try this on a canker sore (home remedies...). Fortunately, I haven't had a canker sore in a while. (Great news for me, they're really painful.)Bag was well packaged, no damage in shipping.I'll need to update when I have more data.Edit, Jan 2023:Unfortunately, I did get to try this album powder is on a few canker sores in the past couple of months. Yep, it helps numb the sore. I also apply a numbing agent first. Just don't touch your tongue to the powder, such a weird feeling for a while.MB Herbals Granulated Alum Powder 500 Gram (17.63 oz) | Granulated Coarse Potassium Alum Powder | Leaving Agent | Coarse Granulated & Dissolves Easily in Water with Stirring | Helps in Canker Sores

Works great for crispy pickles, but is it necessary...?
Alum powder has kind of a mixed reception if you investigate around the internet, particularly as a food preservative. I got it because I wanted to make delicious crispy pickles, and it definitely adds some nice bite in the pickling process. Although it's generally considered non-toxic, alum unsurprisingly comes from aluminum which has its share of health concerns in other applications (like deodorant). The problem with this powder is that if it's inhaled inadvertently during use, it can cause some pretty nasty irritation. And, since it's potentially irritating, the amount used in food needs to be very carefully measured. So, this is good quality alum powder. It's got its uses, but I'm a bit wary about using it too much since it has some significant possible drawbacks.
